There is much to explore just by doing day trips. The San Juan River boasts of the best fly fishing, and Navajo Dam is one of the biggest lakes in NM stretching into Colorado. The marina has decent rental prices on both party barges and small water crafts. Day trips to Durango Colorado area attractions are very doable. In high school, my buddy and I often did ski trips to Purgatory Mountain in a day. Farmington Lake is a very short drive away and is a wonderful place to go and relax without having to travel too far. Beckland Hillls and Kiwanis park nearby with playgrounds.
