In Rockaway Beach are plenty of restaurants, shops, and even a market, so you won't have to leave town if you don't want to. However, if you decide to explore more of the Northern Coast, start with a trip just 15 miles south to wonderful Tillamook, which has many stores, an air museum, and two great cheese factories. You could also go boating, fishing, or crabbing in Tillamook Bay or drive west from Tillamook to check out the scenic Cape Meares Lighthouse. You could also drive north along the highway, passing numerous scenic viewpoints, state parks, and picnic areas on the way up to popular Seaside, which is only about 35 miles away.
