Large family and group self-catering holiday cottage situated in the heart of Sherwood Forest. The East Wing comprises a double en-suite bedroom on the ground floor and two double bedrooms, two twin bedrooms and two bathrooms on the first floor. One bathroom has a modern walk-in shower and the other has a whirlpool bath and steam shower enclosure. Close to many attractions and activities for all ages we are an ideal base for walking, cycling, activities, sight-seeing, golf and relaxation. The space The property is situated in a peaceful location surrounded by farm land whilst being close to all the major attractions and activities in the area. The accommodation is "whole-house" so you can be assured of privacy during your stay. Internally we have combined original features with modern comforts, including surround sound home theatre with streaming services via a Sky Q satellite system. The kitchen, utility area, dining room and living room are on the ground floor along with one en-suite bedroom with views across Deer Park, suitable for those with mobility issues (although due to the age and stone construction we are not fully wheelchair accessible). A further four bedrooms are on the first floor along with two separate bathrooms. The two twin bedrooms overlook the private courtyard and the two double bedrooms have views over Deer Park. Our living room has a large corner arrangement and separate three-seater to seat up to ten people, and our large dining room has an extending oak table and seating for ten. Our courtyard is an enclosed, secure and private area with decking, all-weather outdoor furniture for outdoor drinking and dining, and a path leading to the hot tub which is illuminated at night with low-voltage post lights. The hot tub is a large premium spa with an easy to use cover lifter and simple controls. It automatically returns to a heating and filtering cycle when the jets are not in use ensuring it is always ready for your next session. Soak away the stresses and strains under the sun or stars and add your choice of colour to set the mood with the LED lighting. The East Wing is a detached Grade II listed cottage and part of Rufford Park Lodge which was once associated with Rufford Abbey where the grounds were originally part of the extended Abbey estate. From a distance the property has the appearance of a castle with its symmetrical design and castellated roof feature. We have a fully equipped kitchen with double electric range oven, large ceramic hob and hood, microwave oven, dishwasher, plus a large American fridge-freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer in the adjacent utility area. Our nearest supermarket is only three minutes away by car and open until 10pm seven nights a week. We are adjacent to Rufford Abbey and only ten minutes drive from Edwinstowe and Ollerton. Newark, Southwell, Mansfield and Worksop are around twenty minutes away, Nottingham and Retford are around thirty minutes. Lincoln is around 45 minutes by car. Attractions in the area include Adrenalin Jungle (archery, paintball, zorbing), Lockwell Hill Activity Centre (track and off-road motor sports), Robin Hood's Wheelgate Theme and Water Park, White Post Farm Petting Zoo, Go Ape and many more. Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre and Art and Crafts Centre are ten minutes away, and Sherwood Pines (MTB trails, Go-Ape), Thoresby Hall, Clumber Park and Creswell Craggs are all within easy reach. Newstead Abbey, Wollaton Hall, Thoresby Hall and Papplewick Pumping Station are also nearby. Our location is popular with walking groups, cyclists, golfers, nature lovers and adventure seekers; and with those wanting to spend quality time together relaxing. There are some wonderful places to eat out locally for those family celebrations, birthdays and anniversaries. We have a strict No Smoking policy inside the property. Smoking is permitted however in the courtyard away from open doors and windows. Guest access All areas within the perimeter fence are accessible and for the sole use of our guests, including an enclosed private courtyard with outdoor drinking and dining area and hot tub. The courtyard area is also perfect for al-fresco dining and is a safe space for children and pets. Other things to note Sky Superfast Fibre Broadband is provided via the Sky Hub. There are two WiFi extenders to provide full internet access around the property in both 2.4 and 5 G. The Sky Q HD Satellite box is connected to the WiFi for catch-up viewing and to download movies. Sky Cinema and Sports are both included in our subscription, along with Netflix, Prime, Paramount+, iPlayer, ITVX and more. Please note: All existing subscriptions are free to use.
