Description

Charming house on a quiet block with original 18" pine floors, renovated kitchen & original artwork throughout the house in the heart of Long Island City. 1 short block to subway, a few blocks to ferries. 5 mins. to Grand Central, 10 mins. to Times Square & the U.N., 20 mins. to Hudson Yards, Union Square. Bikeshare w/in 1 block. W/in 2 blocks - enjoy Michelin Star dining, award-winning performing & visual arts, waterfront Manhattan skyline park, 24hr delis and close proximity to all of NYC. The space The house is special as it is part of the history of Long Island City with much of the original detail. In 1870's Long Island Railroad built the row of houses on my block (of which mine is one) for families of workers. There is an active park behind my house and a sweet tree-filled park for small children and families in front of my house. The house faces south and receives wonderful light. The rear of the house (facing north but not obstructed) receives fabulous northern light. The house is 3 floors with 2 bedrooms and bathroom on the top floor. Kitchen and living/dining area at street level. The lower garden floor has my bedroom and bath and is my area to retreat, work and take time for myself. I live here full-time so am available for questions continuously during your stay. Additionally, I mostly work from home. The walls of my home are covered with original artwork from family, neighbors and friends. This is still an active artist community with many studios for visual artists and live music at night-life venues. I founded an award-winning performing arts incubator for experimentation in dance and theater nearby and remain involved in the arts and in advocating for my community. Guest access Your room is your room and I will not enter without an invitation except in the case of an emergency. The room has a single bed with a good mattress and quality bedding. There is also a television with access to a guest account via Netflix. The bathroom and shower room are just outside of room. The bathroom is shared (usually, but not always with one other guest) but there is space for you to keep your toiletries in the bathroom. You have full access to the kitchen and living/dining room. The kitchen is equipped for cooking. There is a microwave, toaster, nespresso machine (with pods), other coffee or tea making tools and more. There are stools in the kitchen and you are most welcome to sit in the kitchen. The entire house has hi-speed wifi. Your bedroom looks over the garden at the back of the house. The room is approximately 14 feet wide by 10 feet deep. You can sit by the window in the front of the house looking out to a charming tree filled tot park where many children play year-round while local seniors sit shaded in the summer. During your stay If there was an option to say... It is completely up to my guests - socialize or not, I would have selected that one. I am social and have people over or may take you around the neighborhood (time permitting) - unless what you want is quiet. Up to you! I often have family or friends stay over so there may be other people in the house. For me this is one of the joys of keeping my house in NYC - visitors. I am also extremely busy between work, civic engagement and family activities so may have limited time for interaction. Registration Details OSE-STRREG-0002442
