Charming ground floor apartment in a historic farmhouse in Spencertown, NY. Our 3-acre property offers privacy and a country setting, but is just a short walk to the hamlet's quaint main street. Our hot tub is open year round. Just a 7 min drive to Chatham and 25 min to Hudson & Great Barrington, this is the perfect spot from which to explore everything Columbia County and the Berkshires have to offer. There are two private entrances to the apartment. Double bed in the bedroom, full pull-out in the living room. Dining area, full kitchen and bathroom. Hot tub, hammock, grill and room to roam in the backyard. The apartment is all yours and there’s lots of space on the 3 acre property to wander and relax. We live in the main part of the house and you may run into us in the yard, but we’re always aware of and respectful of your privacy. If we’re away or out of town, we’ll leave you a key but you’ll have a local point of contact in case of emergency. Spencertown is a historic hamlet in the town of Austerlitz and, until his death in 2015, was the home of Ellsworth Kelly (his home and studio are still here, but not open to the public). From our property, you can walk to the Spencertown Market (currently under renovation) for a meal or basic provisions, or head to the Spencertown Academy to attend one of their many events. We’re close to all the cute towns in Columbia County, including Hudson, Hillsdale, Ghent, Chatham, etc etc as well as the Berkshire towns of Lenox, Stockbridge, and Great Barrington. If you’re looking to ski, we are close to Catamount (22 min), Butternut (27 min), Bousquet (27 min) and Jiminy Peak (34 min). You’re welcome to store any gear in our barn during your stay. If it's nature you're looking for, we are surrounded by beautiful country roads and are close to Taghkanic State Park, Bash Bish Falls and several Columbia County land conservancies. We’re a short drive off of the Taconic State Parkway. Nearest rail line is Amtrak in Hudson. There is Uber and Lyft in Columbia County, but a car is recommended. We have a (cute) dog. We can provide access to a washer/dryer for stays of seven days or longer. We have a chest freezer available to guests who stay seven days or longer. On rare occasions of extreme cold, there is a possibility the hot tub may not be available for use.
