The Piggery - Luxury Period Exmoor Stone Cottage
The Piggery - Luxury Period Exmoor Stone Cottage
The Piggery Dulverton
Description
Welcome to The Piggery, one of two period luxury dog friendly self catering holiday cottages at Stockham Farm in the heart of the Exmoor National Park, yet only just over a mile from the charming small town of Dulverton, the Southern gateway to Exmoor. You will find Stockham Farm in a tranquil location atop a hill with truly panoramic views in all directions. Over recent years the farm has been renovated and refurbished to an extremely high standard and offers two luxury holiday cottages. The space The Piggery is a beautifully refurbished dog-friendly former traditional period stone barn, set in a truly stunning location in the Exmoor National Park with sensational views. Initially converted 30 years ago, it has recently been completely updated to luxury standards. The cottage has three beautiful bedrooms (two king size and one twin), two luxury bathrooms, a large kitchen with all modern appliances and a spacious sitting/dining room with a gas-fired woodburning stove and underfloor heating. Outside there is a dedicated courtyard garden with furniture and a bbq, and amazing distant views across Exmoor. This area has traditional Exmoor banks on three sides, with beech hedges and wild flowers, with the cottage wall on the fourth side, so ideal for guests with dogs. There is also an adjacent grassy fenced area next to the Piggery's pond where guests can see our resident mallards and occasionally the kingfisher. Detached and totally self-contained, the Piggery can be found at Stockham Farm Exmoor, less than a mile and a half from the idyllic small moorland town of Dulverton, with its excellent shops, pubs and restaurants. Guest access Guests are welcome to explore Stockham Farm Exmoor's 35 acres, but will also benefit from the Piggery's own sunny, sheltered garden with its amazing distant views and a large table and seating for 6 plus a bbq. There is also a private fenced grassy area beside the Piggery's pond. Guests bringing horses will find the stables close to the cottage and the fields right next door! Other things to note Towels: We provide an Egyptian cotton bath sheet-size towel for every guest, plus hand towels in the bathrooms. Please bring your own beach and dog towels (if appropriate). Dogs: We welcome a maximum of 2 dogs in the cottage (but do message us to enquire if you'd like to bring more) and each dog is charged at £30 per dog per holiday. We provide a dog 'welcome pack' of a small blanket and water bowl to use in the Piggery cottage, plus a bag of treats for good pets. Please note that we can only accept dogs who are at least a year old and fully house trained (sorry, no puppies!). Dogs must not be left unattended in the cottage at any time. EV Charging: Regarding the EV charging facility at the cottage - this is a metered 13amp supply located in an outside box in the parking area, which provides a 'trickle' charge. You will need to bring your own adaptor according to your vehicle. There are two Instavolt rapid charging points in the Exmoor House Car Park in Dulverton (less than 1.5 miles from the cottage). Cot and High Chair: The cot and high chair are provided free of charge to our guests, but please note we only have one of each at the farm, so if you would like to use them please let us know well in advance as they may possibly be reserved by our other cottage guests. Horses: We have ample traditional indoor stabling for 5 large horses and 2 small horses/ponies, plus warm wash off, plenty of box parking and a secure, heated tack room. Our paddocks are fenced and a couple have field shelters. Horse DIY livery is charged at £20 per night per horse (to include turnout, hay and straw).
