Sunny spare bedroom is on the 2nd floor of a 112 yr old Victorian. New double pane windows face west & overlook quiet yard. Spacious w simple furnishings: twin bed, desk, 2 bookshelves, oak dresser, wire organizer & closet. Located at stair-top between master bedroom & primary bathroom. Hardwood floors covered w oriental carpets. Pets do not enter room but are present in house - probably not good for persons with allergies. The space We are an onsite family - late middle aged older couple with 12 year old son. We congregate in the kitchen but otherwise do our own thing in our bedrooms or outside. We are not particularly quiet people and we like to get to know our guests if they are interested in sharing. Sometimes we get noisy with each other but the house is big and we have only had one complaint in the past 10 years. We have a lot of stuff so if clutter bothers you in common areas, this may not be the place for you. Absolutely no smoking in the house & prefer not to smell tobacco on your clothes. Fragrance free home. The house is old but we love it. Floors are hardwood and linoleum and can look dingy. Kitchen cupboards and counter top are horrible and I can't wait to upgrade but we need a new foundation first. First things first. The security system talks back and phone two phones on each floor ring kind of loud. If noise bothers you, just ask us to pipe down. Guest access There are 2 toilets, 1 shower/bath. Extended kitchen w 2 fridges and crammed walk in pantry with lots of dry stored foods. You can contribute money for what you use from the pantry. Happy to eat together or sit & chat at kitchen table. No living room at this time. Washer, dryer & clothes line on premise. Garden is wild and if you like pungent greens you are welcome to make salad from what is growing. Lemons available regularly, other fruits when in season. Front yard looks different as plants have grown bushy and trees are now tall. During your stay We really live in our home so you will most likely see us in the morning and evenings. We have traveled and are interested in what you would like to teach us about where you are from, your hobbies or studies. We are happy to give you advice about where to go, what to see & how to find bargains in the bay area. Husband is a native of SF, Wife is from NY and keeps honeybees in front yard. If you have a bee allergy - don't book here. Son is polite and quiet but occasionally acts disgruntled. Other things to note We have one small dog who sheds white hair. The dog never goes into the guest bedroom so it should be free of dog hair and dander. It's amazing how one little dog can shed so much hair so beware if you wear dark clothing. We really only want one guest at a time but if you are staying long term then an occasional visitor will be expected to pay an additional nightly rate. Just ask if you have an unusual circumstance and we will try to accommodate a special request.
