Villa Monamú – Modern Masseria with Private Pool
Description
Villa Monamu is a sophisticated and peaceful masseria sitting amongst 10 acres of olive and lemon trees at the end of a country lane. Its architecture features the best local craftsmanship including limestone floors and vaulted ceilings as well as all modern amenities. Nestled between the picturesque and authentic villages of Specchia and Ruffano, the property makes the perfect base for exploring the beaches of Salento and historical towns of Lecce and Otranto. The space Villa Monamu is a modern, sophisticated and curated country home set in the heart of authentic Salento. Nestled in an olive grove next to the 18th century hunting estate of prominent Italian politician Giuseppe Pisanelli, it will enchant the discerning traveller looking for an expansive retreat away from summer crowds and yet within a short drive of dozen of pristine beaches and picturesque villages. Featuring limestone floors, cocciopesto batherooms and reclaimed tiles, Villa Monamu is a clever mix of local architecture and modern comforts. Set on a single level, it boasts typical star-vaulted ceilings throughout as well as a modern fireplace, underfloor heating and air conditioning. The pool (15x4m) is long enough for a proper swim and has an automatic cover for safety for family staying with young children. Indoors, the house is divided into two separate spaces. The "main" house includes the living/dining room, kitchen (with a SMEG gas cooking range, large fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and coffee machine) as well as two bedrooms and a guest loo/laundry room. The master bedroom boasts an ensuite with a large shower and a double sink. The second bedroom features two single beds and an ensuite with a large bathtub. The second part of the house consists of three additional bedrooms --each with its own ensuite-- distributed around a central courtyard. They all have direct access both to the garden and the courtyard via large French doors. Two of the bedrooms can communicate via a set of inside doors for families with children. The main house is reached through the outdoor courtyard. The floorplan of the house makes it ideal for two families, or several generations, to share as it provides everyone with space and privacy. The property is furnished in a warm, bohemian style, with paintings and wall hangings from local artists and crockery from the well-known ceramic town of Fasano. All the beds and mattresses are top quality and there is ample storage in the bedrooms. For travellers looking for relaxation and quiet, Villa Monamu's setting among centenarian olive trees and a lemon and orange grove will perhaps appeal most. There is no noise day or night apart from the song of cicadas in high summer. The pool is surrounded by a large lawn and features a roomy shaded area with loungers. There are three additional outdoor seating areas dotted around the house for meals, long talks or reading. The roof terrace (ideal for yoga or meditation) can be accessed via an outdoor staircase and is an ideal viewpoint from which to enjoy the sunset with a cocktail. There are two adult bicycles and a child's bike (5-9 years) available to use if requested. Pool towels also available upon request. Guest access The guests will have access to all parts of the house as well as the land. Other things to note Daily cleaning can be arranged for 10 euros an hour for a minimum of 3 hours at a time. A caretaker looks after the swimming pool and the land. Registration Details IT075064C200105005
