Des Affiches Bed and Breakfast - 1st floor Queen
Des Affiches Bed and Breakfast is in Glen Echo Heights, a woodsy section of Bethesda, MD on the Potomac just over the DC line, offering a choice of 2 guest rooms, each with private bath, free parking and generous continental breakfast. Only a 15 minute drive from NIH, 10 minutes from Gtown, 20 from the White House and the National Mall. Metro-accessible. Our turn-of-the-20th century style home features unparalleled architecture, antiques, art, and furnishings, and every modern convenience. While this listing on Airbnb is new, we have been in operation for over fifteen years, formerly rented through now-closed Bed and Breakfast DC. We have many excellent and detailed reviews on TripAdvisor and had five reviews here, all five stars. Our home is unique, evoking the Queen Anne, craftsman and art nouveau styles of 1900, with front and back and shaded porches, a bell-shaped turret, a grand staircase, stained glass and period architectural artifacts including lighting, bath fixtures, fireplaces, and other elements. We do offer every modern amenity as well, from WiFi to an elevator. First floor guests enter through the door right beside their room and have a private bath. Guests also use the kitchen, breakfast area, front and back porches, living and dining rooms and family room, as well as the hot tub in the wooded back yard. We live on property and will be here to greet you and acclimate you to our home. After check in, we try to provide guests with as much privacy as possible. Guests are welcome to come and go as your schedule requires. We are available by phone anytime. When possible, we always enjoy sharing a glass with our guests and hearing about your travels, as well as offering advice on local attractions and amenities. Glen Echo/Bethesda MD, is a quiet, tree filled neighborhood just over the border from Northwest Washington DC. We are minutes from Massachusetts Avenue, Cabin John Parkway and Interstate 495. Walking, jogging, and strolling on the Capitol Crescent Trail along the Potomac River is safe and beautiful. Restaurants require a drive, but we are very close to downtown Bethesda with its many varied offerings, and to the Shops at Sangamore (five minutes away) with several restaurants, CVS and Safeway. A car is helpful and parking is free, and we are Metro accessible (three blocks to the bus stop, which connects to Metro). NIH, Georgetown, the White House, National Mall, Kennedy Center, and the Smithsonian Museums are about a 15 to 25 minute drive. We have two cats who are excellent feline hosts.
