Charming log cabin on Crooked River in Maine
Charming fully furnished two bedroom, one and a half bath log cabin in peaceful wooded setting. The property also offers a bunkhouse with bunkbeds which is fun for kids. The cabin was built by my grandfather next to the Crooked River, which is great for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and fishing (with a proper license). Relax with a cup of coffee on the screened in porch or with a good book in the hammock. The cabin has a fully furnished kitchen with a stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffeepot, dishes, silverware, and pots and pans for cooking. Or eat out and enjoy some famous Maine seafood! Enjoy hiking, biking, birding, and berry picking in the area. Go for a swim ; do some antiquing; take a paddleboat cruise in Naples; or visit the Wildlife Park in nearby Gray. Shopping and other activities are available in Portland, Windham, and Bridgeton, ME or North Conway, NH, all within an hour's drive. You are welcome to swim, kayak, or tube in the river at your own risk. There are paddles and life jackets in the bunkhouse but you should bring your own life jackets to ensure they are the proper size. There may also be large inner tubes in the bunkhouse for your use. If you wish to fish, you must obtain a license from the State of Maine and follow the local regulations. Always watch any children closely around water! You may build a fire in the Franklin stove if it is chilly (see owners' instructions) (there is no central heat or A/C). No smoking, no pets, and no unregistered guests. Please observe quiet hours from 10 pm to 7 am. Notify owners and/or caretakers right away if anything is not working properly or is broken. When leaving, take garbage outside to large can; wash and put away any dirty dishes. Please leave the cabin in same condition as you found it. Guests have access to the entire cabin as well as the bunkhouse. There are caretakers nearby who will check guests in and out and who can resolve any maintenance issues.
