Private-entry luxurious suite combining comfort & style for a memorable stay. Located in quiet neighborhood -- Harpers Ferry historic district -- 1920s stone foursquare home with beautiful gardens to explore. Close to National Park, Potomac & Shenandoah Rivers, C&O Canal Trail, AT, Amtrak train station, Storer College, & Loudoun Co. wineries. An ideal accommodation for a romantic couple's getaway. More pics on Insta @rockhavenbnb In the Studebaker Suite, we have prepared quiet and relaxing, comfortable accommodations for your vacation getaway, including a full private spa bathroom with vintage clawfoot bathtub, 6-foot walk-in shower with rain shower head and separate water closet. In the main room, you can enjoy a Roku TV, a comfy love seat with ottoman, books and games -- even a wood stove for chilly evenings in late fall or winter. For your convenience, the kitchenette includes a sink, microwave, toaster oven, mini-fridge, blender (you can make a smoothie!), mini griddle, and Keurig coffee maker. Dishware is stored in a vintage hoosier cabinet. Decor is industrial/vintage -- and maybe a touch bohemian -- in the main living/sleeping/kitchen areas but more upscale-modern with a French-quarter flair in the bathroom. Next to your bed is a full-size window right at garden level, so you get a beautiful view of the flowers. Just outside the entrance to the suite is a small covered cabana dedicated for your use, so you can enjoy tranquil cup of coffee outdoors, if you like, or a glass of wine in the evening. This suite is idea for a honeymoon, and the gardens make a lovely spot for an elopement, small (micro)wedding or vow renewal ceremony. Inquire about renting our garden space and/or our indoor small event space overlooking the garden. This beautiful indoor space is also available for a romantic candelight, private catered dinner (for an extra fee). We have tried to make this space more ADA oriented, although it is not strictly ADA compliant. No steps are required between the parking area and the suite, but there is a considerable walk around the side of the house. If this suite is not available on your travel dates, check out our other Harpers Ferry Airbnb listings at "Entire 3rd Floor Suite" or "Retro Tiny Cabin in the Trees". We accept government rates for guests whose business stay will be paid for on a government credit card. This house-with-a-history was originally owned by William and Inez Saunders, both alumni of Storer College. William was on the Storer faculty from 1907 until sometime in the 1940s. You can learn more about our Storer College connection during your visit. Highlights from our reviews: "It is a beautifully designed suite with a private entrance. The decor is fantastic and the bathroom is spa level luxurious..." -Kevin “This place is a hidden treasure! The spectacular garden walk leads to a comfortable, well-lit basement suite. It has been recently updated, with a beautiful spa bath, well stocked kitchenette, and luxury bedding.” - Anne “The Studebaker unit was comfortable and complete with everything that we could need. The décor was packed with interesting items, and the bath was high-end beautiful with luxurious soaps and creams for us to use. The mattress was just perfect. ..." - Donald Outside, you can also stroll through our extensive gardens and relax amidst the birdsong in any of our garden-level seating. A curtained cabana with seating and an outdoor fan is located just outside your entrance. Please note that other guests staying at our home may also be enjoying the garden, so please be respectful. It's a great entertaining space, and we may invite our own guests over, with no obligation to provide prior notice to Airbnb guests. We will give you as much privacy as you want but will be happy to help or answer questions as needed. Our house is one block from Washington St., the main street in historic Harpers Ferry, so it is quiet yet still close to all the action. The famous trains that run through town at river level are far enough away that all you will hear is a distant wail, if anything at all. Only a few yards away is the former Storer College campus (now occupied by the National Park Service), as well as the Appalachian Trail and the AT Conservancy headquarters. A stroll further down the street takes you by historic homes and buildings, and at the end of the street is the oldest cemetery in town, just above Jefferson Rock. The views of Lower Town HF and the two rivers are great from there! Note that this main residential section of the Town of Harpers Ferry (where our home is located) is over half a mile up a fairly steep hill from the rivers and the National Historic Park area (and also the C & O Canal Towpath). Through-cyclists on the trail, especially, should be aware of the strenuous ride up. We are about .7 mile from the Amtrak and MARC train station. During winter months many guests love using the woodstove in the suite, which can sometimes leave a bit of a smoky smell that lingers year-round, depending on the weather. Most people love this ambiance, but not everyone. The private bathroom is located within the guest suite. Check in on Sundays may be delayed until 4 pm. A Town-issued guest parking hang-tag for one vehicle will be left in the suite and must be displayed in your vehicle windshield for parking in front of our property. The fee for this tag is included in your rate. The tag does not apply to parking anywhere else in Town. If bringing a second vehicle, there will be a charge for an additional guest parking tag. We can safely shelter your bicycle. We do not have a convenient set-up for recharging electric bicycles. With sufficient advance notice, we will try our best to provide transportation to and from the train station if you need it. If you need to bring your beloved pet with you, we can recommend a great local petsitter! There are NO surveillance cameras on the property. We provide a map of walking routes to nearby views of the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers, as well as restaurant lists and info on local attractions.
