Recently remodeled private room and bathroom in historic home with large front porch complete with rocking chairs, one block from the water and five blocks from downtown shops, restaurants and waterfront activities. I call my house Shell Land II, as I have a massive shell collection, many of which are displayed on my front porch railing. The house is a two-story 150-year old home (with all of the quirks a 150-year old home has!), located just outside the historic district. My favorite feature of the house is the large front porch, complete with rocking chairs so you can “sit a spell” and talk with the neighbors who walk by. My house is 1.5 blocks from the water, and a short kayak or swim over to the Rachel Carson Nature Preserve, known by locals as Bird Shoals or Carrot Island. Rental kayaks, paddleboards and bicycles are all available nearby. If you crave the open ocean, you can walk four blocks to the National Park Service Visitor Center and take the passenger ferry to Shackleford Island or Cape Lookout. And Bogue Banks with lots of public beach access spots is a 20-minute drive away. Your recently remodeled room with Queen bed is on the ground floor, accessed by a few steps and a landing. You'll park in the driveway, right beside your private entrance. You have easy access to the front porch so you can enjoy those rocking chairs. You have your own recently remodeled en suite private bathroom (tub/shower combo). Your room and bathroom are separate from the rest of the house, with no access to other parts of the house. I provide a microwave, Krueger coffee maker, electric tea kettle and mini-fridge stocked with a variety of beverages. Please note: no kitchen (and no cooking at all, of any type, in the room) and no pets. I run an LGBTQ+ welcoming Airbnb and I am politically liberal. You'll park in the driveway, right beside your private entrance. I have boogie boards and beach towels you can use; beach towels are in your room. I have all of the info you need to plan your activities: ferry schedules, paddleboard rental info, bike tour info, etc. I am happy to help you plan trips and tell you about all of the wonderful things our area has to offer. Beaufort is the third-oldest town in North Carolina, and we have a fascinating historic district and many beautiful, restored historic homes. We have picturesque old cemeteries, and a double-decker bus, imported from England, that tours the town with a narrator who gives the full story of the many interesting things that Beaufort offers. Blackbeard the Pirate also spent time in Beaufort, and his house is just down the street from mine! Folks come from all over the world to visit our small town—for its history and its natural beauty. Beaufort is a great place to bike and walk. You will need a car to get to out-lying areas; your car can be parked in my driveway. As noted, you can easily walk to downtown and the waterfront from my house. There are several Uber cars in the area, as well as taxi services. The closest public airport is in New Bern (Coastal Carolina Regional airport), a 50-minute drive away. Bike rental folks will deliver bikes right to you at my house. Because of transference of smoke to linens and furniture, I rent to non-smokers only. Additionally, life on the coast means a couple of things. One is that there are lots of bugs, including cockroaches. In the evening, you may encounter them on the porch. I have traps and boric acid set out, but I choose not to use harsher pesticides due to environmental impact. Please note: no kitchen (and no cooking, of any type, at all in the room) and no pets.
