Welcome to Number Forty Two, a cosy holiday home in Portsoy on Scotland’s beautiful North East coast. 🌊 Just a 1-minute walk from the New Harbour and historic Old Harbour, it’s perfectly placed for coastal views and seaside strolls. Local shops, cafés, bakeries, restaurants and more are within 5–10 minutes on foot. The perfect base for a relaxing coastal escape or exploring the Moray Firth. 🏡🌊 The space About the Cottage Although she may look small from the outside, Number Forty Two is a surprisingly spacious coastal cottage sleeping up to six guests, with plenty of room for everyone to relax and enjoy their stay. Set over two floors, the cottage combines home comforts with beautiful sea views and everything you need for a memorable break in Portsoy. Downstairs Master Bedroom The master bedroom features a comfortable king-size bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. With windows overlooking both the street at the front and the garden at the rear, this room enjoys a lovely double aspect. All bed linen is provided, so you can simply unpack and settle in. Bathroom Relax and refresh in the family bathroom, complete with a bath and a double shower cubicle with an electric shower. We provide hand towels, bath towels, hand soap and a toilet roll to get you started. Living Room Our bright and spacious living room is the perfect place to put your feet up after a day exploring the coast. Get cosy in front of the electric fire, catch up on your favourite Netflix series or enjoy a little family competition with games from our selection of board games. Fancy a game of Scrabble or even Twister? You’ll find both in the games cupboard! Kitchen and Sitting Area The large, open-plan kitchen has plenty of space to prepare your favourite meals, although there’s nothing wrong with treating yourself to a takeaway and having a night off cooking! When it’s time to relax, sink into the comfortable corner sofa or swivel chair and enjoy the beautiful views across the bay. You might even spot dolphins out on the water, catch a stunning sunrise or, during the winter months, be lucky enough to see the Northern Lights. We provide washing-up liquid, a pan scourer, dishcloths and tea towels, along with a Tassimo coffee machine and a small selection of coffee and hot chocolate pods. Conservatory If it’s a little too chilly to sit outside, the conservatory is a lovely spot to unwind with your favourite tipple or curl up with a good book from the bookshelf. A peaceful place to slow down and enjoy some downtime during your stay. Upstairs Double Bedroom Couldn’t claim the king-size bed? Don’t worry! The upstairs double bedroom has something pretty special of its own — beautiful sea views across the bay. Situated at the rear of the cottage, it’s a lovely spot to wake up to the morning sunrise. Twin Bedroom Also overlooking the sea at the rear of the house, the twin bedroom has two single beds and those same gorgeous coastal views. Perfect for children or adults alike, it’s another lovely place to wake up and start the day. Dressing Room and Workspace Our versatile dressing room has a vanity desk, a hanging rail for guests staying in the upstairs bedrooms and space to get ready for the day ahead. If you’re working remotely during your stay, the desk can also double up as a handy workspace. We provide a hairdryer too, saving you a little extra space in your suitcase. The Garden One of the real highlights of Number Forty Two is our large, enclosed garden, with gorgeous sea views to enjoy throughout your stay. Open the patio doors from the kitchen and enjoy breakfast al fresco on the patio. For something a little different, take your evening meal or a drink up to the raised seating area at the back of the garden, where you can soak up even more of those coastal views. There’s also a lawn for children to play on, along with a rotary washing line. Fancy a day at the beach or a spot of crabbing at the harbour? Our handy Keterbox of seaside essentials includes rock-pooling nets, fishing rods, crabbing nets and buckets and spades — ready for a little family adventure! Parking Number Forty Two has its own private driveway, with off-street parking for up to 3 cars. We kindly ask guests to be considerate of our neighbours and avoid parking on the street. Travelling with Children? Little ones are very welcome at Number Forty Two! While we don’t provide a travel cot, you’re welcome to bring your own. A high chair is available on request, so please let us know before you arrive. We also have a small selection of toys and books to keep younger guests entertained. Exploring the Local Area There’s so much to see and do around Portsoy and the beautiful Aberdeenshire and Moray coastline, whether you’re looking for a relaxing seaside escape or a holiday packed with adventures. Spend your days exploring the area’s many sandy beaches, discovering coastal walking routes or heading inland to enjoy the surrounding countryside. One of our favourite local walks takes you to the dramatic ruins of Findlater Castle, between Sandend and Cullen, with the option to continue towards the secluded beach at Sunnyside. Portsoy is also perfectly placed for exploring Scotland’s famous whisky country, with numerous distilleries nearby where you can discover the history of whisky-making and sample some local favourites. Whether you’re planning beach days, scenic walks, wildlife spotting, distillery visits or simply a few peaceful days by the sea, Number Forty Two makes the perfect base for exploring this beautiful corner of Scotland. You’ll have full use of the whole house, a spacious driveway with parking for at least three cars, and a large enclosed garden to the rear of the property – perfect for enjoying some time outdoors.
