Idyllic Shepherd's hut in a quiet secluded meadow

Cozy inside and with gorgeous views outside, if that sounds like a splendid mix, then set off for the high-weald area of outstanding natural beauty and a self-catering stay at Gabriel's Rest, a gorgeous little shepherd's hut set in a peaceful and tranquil corner of a Sussex meadow with its own little garden. This idyllic retreat is set at Pococksgate Farm. It's all very peaceful here, and a relaxing place to just chill out all by yourselves with no one else around you. Set in the Sussex countryside on the Kent/Sussex border, Pococksgate Farm is situated 1 mile south of Frant village and a 10-minute drive from Royal Tunbridge Wells. You'll be able to unwind whilst soaking in the spectacular views over the fields, woodland, and beyond. This gorgeous self-catering Shepherd's hut has a well-equipped kitchenette with an induction hob, microwave, a fridge with a freezer compartment, toaster, and kettle, along with all the crockery, cutlery, and glasses that you need. The en-suite bathroom has a shower, WC, wash hand basin, heated towel rail with fresh soft white towels provided, and a hairdryer. The bedroom has a sumptuous bed that you just want to dive straight into! All bed linen is provided. It also has underfloor heating throughout, and a wood-burning stove for you to cozy up around on those chilly Autumn evenings, sitting on the sofa watching TV or listening to the radio, or just reading your favorite book. Outside, you'll step down onto the wooden decking area, complete with a table, chairs, and two lounging chairs. There is a fire pit that doubles up as a BBQ, perfect for a spot of al-fresco dining in the Summer and Autumn. Kindling, logs, and charcoal are all provided and included in the price, along with paper, matches, and BBQ utensils. Complimentary tea, fresh ground coffee, milk, sugar, and biscuits are all included. This peaceful retreat is a wonderful spot for anyone just wanting to switch off and unwind in nature whilst staying warm and comfortable. Guest access Parking is next to the shepherd's hut. Other things to note Pococksgate farm is situated opposite the entrance to Eridge Park, here is where they host the Black deer music festival in the summer months along with other events and festivals. There are lots of reasons to get out and about around here....maybe you'd like to take a tour of some of the area's castles or stately homes, among which are Hever, Scotney, Penshurst Place, Chartwell, or Bateman's home of Rudyard Kipling. Or maybe visit the gardens at Pashley Manor where in late April /early May Pashley Manor's spectacular tulip festival sees this garden, carpeted with over 48,000 tulips creating stunning scenes for visitors to enjoy. Stroll around Bedgebury pinetum, or head to the coast for the day as we are only 40 minute's drive away from Rye, Hastings, Eastbourne, and Brighton. If you are planning a trip to the opera at Glyndebourne, then we are only 35 minutes away. Closer to home is Bowles outdoor pursuits center in Eridge where you can learn to ski, canoe, and rock climb, or Bewl water over at Lamberhust for sailing, fishing, or cycling. The Spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells is only a 10-minute drive away where you will find the historic Pantiles, for a fantastic way to spend a morning or early afternoon, experience the hustle and bustle of the Pantiles market featuring a wide variety of local produce, tasty treats, designer clothes, and artisan crafts, there is something for everyone here, held every other Saturday. Or just sit down and relax in one of the many cafes or restaurants with a glass of chilled wine and just watch the world go by, or listen to jazz if you time your stay right, jazz nights are held here every Thursday evening throughout the Summer If you're feeling peckish then there are several village pubs and cafes within a mile or so's journey for snacks and evening meals, there is the Abergavenny Arms restaurant serving excellent food along with the George Inn, both situated in Frant, and you will also find Frant village stores supplying a very good selection of groceries and local produce. To the south of Gabriel's rest is the small hamlet of Mark Cross, here there is another pub/restaurant called the Lazy Fox, and then the Sussex garden center serves very tasty breakfasts and lunches, they also have a huge display and shop selling everything from garden plants and furniture, to cards, toys, books, food and drink. The Sussex border path runs through the center of the farm which will take you in either direction East to West linking up to many other footpaths, as far as you feel like walking, or there is access into Nap wood belonging to the national trust that our farmland borders. There is so much to do and see around here, the list is endless. But for a quiet and relaxing time just reading or playing some of the board games in the hut, or just admiring the beautiful views across the Sussex countryside.........then "Gabriel's Rest", ticks all the boxes!
