Cozy well equipped cabin on the South Dakota side of Big Stone Lake. 37 feet of shore line, minutes from dining, groceries, and Hartford Beach Recreation area. Guests will enjoy a private 40' dock and the location is a kayaker's and wildlife lover's paradise! Enjoy grilling on the over sized deck, take the 4 available kayaks (2 adult, 2 youth) out to explore the historic Big Stone Islands, or share a campfire in the firepit on the patio! Boat ramp very close to the cabin. Fiber internet! Very quiet and tranquil area in a bay with lots of islands nearby and lots of waterfowl in the area. Excellent location for kayakers! We have 2 adult kayaks and 2 youth kayaks along with lifejackets available for our guests...included with reservation! Fishing can be good in the bay at certain times of the year, but be prepared to work around the weeds by middle summer. Bring your light tackle and the Small Bluegill fishing can be fantastic right off the dock...with an occasional large mouth bass! Slip bobber and tungsten jigs set at 18" and tipped with night crawlers work best! The majority of our bay is approx. 18-24" deep and quite heavy with aquatic plants by mid summer. We find this tends to keep most of the recreational boaters and jet-ski's away which contributes to the peace and quiet and added wildlife in the bay. There is a tremendous amount of Native American history, hiking and exploration to be had within a few minutes kayak journey over to Big Stone Island Nature area (Kite Island). Included with your reservation: Weber Gas Grill, Traeger smoker, Big Screen TV, bedroom TV, Roku Sticks with guest mode, emulator with thousands of games (Nintendo, SNES, N64, PlayStation, Sega Genesis, etc.) and DVD player. We now have fiber internet for all Wi-Fi needs. Cell phone reception is very good in the area. Whole cabin, dock and amenity shed. Garage is locked and unavailable to guests at this time. There is a boat ramp only 1 block north of the cabin plus another state boat ramp and dock 1-1.5 miles south. Boaters may want to use a trolling motor in the bay to avoid rock piles. Family units preferred and limited to 6 people at this time! We prefer and require quiet respectful guests who clean up after themselves and will respect our family cabin, property, and neighbors. The water depth off the dock is only about 24" and does get pretty weedy by middle summer. We suggest utilizing Hartford Beach Recreation Area which is a short 10 miles drive away for swimming. Hartford Beach is a public beach area with playground for kids. It does require a State Park pass which is available at the booth or kiosk. Location is excellent for those who enjoy kayaking or canoeing. Our bay is quite shallow which keeps most of the recreational power boats out. Perfect place to put up hammocks or tents! Many restaurants in the area (within 10-12 miles) both on the lake as well as in Ortonville, Big Stone City, and Milbank. Grocery stores, shopping, and bait shops, too. *Notice* We recently added fiber internet. NO PETS!! No smoking inside. Thank you!
