It's not unusual to see eagles and other large prey birds fly above or a family of coyotes on the opposite river bank. A nice pub is nearby, with the main retail, grocery and restaurants a 12-minute drive. We recommend having a car as getting around by bus would be difficult, but not impossible. As we're located in the hub of the West Kootenays, this is the perfect location if you want to experience all of the winter sports in the area: 33 km to the southwest is Rossland & Red Mountain; 51 km to the northeast is Nelson & Whitewater; Nancy Greene Lake (cross-country skiing ) is 34 km to the west; and Kootenay Pass (the mecca of free back country skiing) is 80 km to the east. The fabulous Ainsworth Hot Springs is 98 km away.
