Whether you want to gather with friends or find a quiet corner to yourself, the outdoors is yours to enjoy: The "Porch Sitter’s" Dream: Our covered back deck is the heart of the home, outfitted with classic rockers perfect for taking in the view. The porch features a gate you can close for a cozy, tucked-in feel or leave open to the mountain breeze. The Tree-Shaded playground: Follow the dappled sunlight to a favorite guest spot—seating for five tucked under the trees, ideal for long afternoon chats or a glass of local cider. A Quiet Moment: We also offer a private patio with seating for two, perfect for your morning coffee. Historic Soul, Modern Comfort Inside, the house retains its 19th-century character while providing the modern essentials you need for a stress-free stay. Gather & Dine: Prepare meals on reliable Maytag appliances and gather around the kitchen or dining room table for family dinners. Restful Nights: Upstairs Master: A peaceful retreat with a full-size bed. Second Bedroom: Features a charming antique three-quarter bed and an additional twin bed. Convenience: Full bathrooms are located on both the first and second floors for your comfort. Connectivity: We offer Firefly Satellite Wi-Fi and a Smart TV—simply log into your personal HBO, Hulu, or Netflix accounts. While we are in a rural area, our guests typically have no connection issues and stay in touch without any problem. You may find some of our personal belongings in the home, adding to the authentic, lived-in farmhouse feel. Adventure Seekers: Minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, hiking trails, and kayaking on the James and Tye Rivers. Lake Nelson is also nearby for fishing (license required). During cooler months, such as October and April, you may meet some local "stink bugs" or lady beetles. We vacuum and clean thoroughly before you arrive, but these tiny travelers occasionally find their way back in to enjoy the warmth! A quick pass with the vacuum (provided) does the trick. Because this is a natural part of rural living, we do not offer refunds for these seasonal visitors. Climate & Tech: We provide air conditioning units and old-fashioned fans for summer, and electric baseboard heat for the cooler months. While cell signal can vary by provider in the foothills, our guests typically have no connection issues thanks to the provided Wi-FI We hope you enjoy our rural area and find time for rest and relaxation. Guest access To ensure you have a peaceful stay, a few areas of the house (the attic, one upstairs bedroom, and specific storage closets) are reserved for our personal items and will remain locked. While most of the home is yours to enjoy, you may notice a few dressers containing our personal belongings—we kindly ask that you leave those drawers undisturbed.
