Our 1800's two story 2200 square farm house, once a log cabin, welcomes you! Sleepy Hollow is nestled in scenic rural Nelson County, Virginia. Relax on the covered deck ,dine in the renovated kitchen or dining room. Two bedrooms on the second floor can sleep 5. A living room can sleep one, 1 on a comfy couch Full baths on each level. There is a barn and pastures. Located along the Nelson 151 winery and brewery trail, Wintergreen skiing, and many nearby Universities, festivals. Sleepy Hollow is located at the foot of a mountain and offers a large yard with lots of space for relaxation. Our yard is not fenced in, keeping the rural ambience. We have areas for family and friends to gather inside or outdoors or on the covered back porch. The back porch has gliders and rockers if you are a porch sitter! The porch also has a gate you can close or leave open. The patio also has seats for two. In addition you will find chairs outside under the trees for more fun times. There is also a rustic picnic table outside under the shade tree. Family and friends can also gather inside around the kitchen table and dining room. The kitchen has Maytag appliances. Upstairs master bedroom has a full size bed. The other bedroom has a full bed and twin bed. We also have a nice size sofa (it does Not pull out), that can sleep one for comfortable sleeping as well as air mattress. Full baths are on both first and second floors. . This is our home, however we do not live in it all the time, and will not be there while you are our guests. Some of our personal belongings may be there. We welcome you, and hope you will find it relaxing and comfortable. Satellite is available. Please keep in mind that we are rural. We have a Smart tv services that will allow you to access Your HBO, HULU, etc, personal accounts. Because we are rural, cell phone service may be limited depending on your provider. However this is typically not an concern for most of our guests. During the cooler months we may have some stink bugs, lady bugs. This is part of our rural living and charm. We recognize that this may not be suitable for all guests. We have tried eliminating them but since we have an older home they at times seem to find a way back in. Many scenic drives are in our area, such as the Blue Ridge Parkway. We are in close proximity to breweries, vineyards, cideries, hiking, the James and Tye rivers for kayaking. Lake Nelson is a public lake for fishing. Our farm house has air conditioning units. We also offer the old fashioned fans. We have a bedroom and closet upstairs we keep locked. The attic is also locked. Downstairs, I have my "things" in a closet which is also not available. You may also find there are some chest of drawers which contain some personal belongings. The master bedroom will have sheets and pillow cases stored in a dresser, ample for all beds, should you need them. The best way to reach me during your visit will be by Airbnb. I do work full time so my availability may depend on what time of day it is. Our neighborhood is rural and we are in a fabulous location just minutes to Wintergreen Resort, Crabtree Falls, the Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, George Washington National Forest, great trout fishing ( swimming holes) in the Tye River, and Lake Nelson, offering fun in the summer. There are "pick your own" Seaman/Flippin strawberry, blueberry's, Drumheller, and Saunders peaches and nursery/ orchards and farms, vineyards, Devils Backbone, Silverback and Virginia Distillery Companies. Sleepy Hollow is only 10-15 min from Nellysford and "Nelson 151" with your favorite breweries, cideries, wineries, shopping and the Farmers Market! There are even nearby orchards where you can pick your own. Seamans strawberry and blueberry patch is just up the road about 1/4 mile from my place. Pick your own or pre-picked are available. Tons of music festivals, as well as wine festivals, garlic festivals, bring people to Nelson County. Nearby is Pharsalia, an estate which hosts weddings, and many other activities. Mingle with the locals at local softball games in Lovingston. Canoe on the rivers, hike the Old Blue Ridge Rail trail, Hump Back Rocks. Oak Ridge Farm events. My guidebooks lists the variety of hiking trails, breweries, Vineyards, wedding venues. If you like golf, play at Devils Knob on Wintergreen Resort, or Poplar Grove in Amherst. Spartan races are held at the nearby Oak Ridge Estate. Seaman/ Flippin, Saunders , Bruguiere, and Drumheller orchards. We are about 20-45 minutes to many Universities such as, Sweet Briar College, The University of Virginia, Liberty University, University of Lynchburg, Longwood University, Randolph College, PVCC, CVCC. If you need long term stay, our county has excellent schools. Tye River Elementary and Nelson County High School are within 10 minutes. Rockfish Elementary School is approximately 15 minutes from Sleepy Hollow. As far as I know, the closest Uber ,Lyft, are available in the Lovingston area, which can be located if you search Uber and Lyft. Cabs, trains, public buses, and airports, are in the Lynchburg, Charlottesville, and Waynesboro, areas. Uber, Lyft and cab will come out to our rural area. Lemo services are also available from Lexington, and Charlottesville. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic we ask that if you use our linens, please put them to wash before you leave. You may bring your own if you wish. We also have bedspreads, and pillows. The annual Rebec Garlic and Wine festival is approximately 10 minutes away. Virginia wines, live entertainment, arts, crafts and GARLIC! Tastings by guest wineries, multiple stages with live entertainment, over 150 unique arts, crafts and specialty foods. The Virginia Wine & Garlic Festival is Virginia’s largest agricultural festival. Just up the road is the annual Sorghum Festival in Clifford, Va. If you like festivals, we are near the Crozet Arts and Crafts Festivals. We are conveniently located, (about a 5-10 minute drive) to many local Farmers Markets such as Flippin/Seaman, Dickie Brothers, Drumhellars, and Saunders farmers markets. Our area has multiple hiking venues, fishing streams, golf, and Wintergreen Resort. The Blue Ridge Parkway is approximately a 20 minute drive. Since we are rural, we still have the old fashioned Country Store nearby. Mac's Country Store, serves homemade breakfast, lunch, dinner. Likely the best fried chicken you may ever eat! Mac's makes homemade soups (seasonal), sandwiches and provides a bench and tables/chairs to sit and talk with the locals. They open at 6 and close at 8 M-Sat, and at 7 pm on Sunday. In our area, you will also find Ann's Truck Stop! Open 6 days a week, closed on Saturday. Opened 7 a.m.- 9 pm, No better home made food can be found and at reasonable prices. It may be a bit hard to see at first, it sits on the side of the road. But you won't want to miss a meal there! Located in Lovingston, about 15 minutes from my home is Vitos Italian restaurant, Chens Asian restaurant, Lovingston Cafe which is primarily American restaurant, and there is a Subway! And, there is McDonalds! Next to Food Lion in Lovingston, off route 29. Across the street is also the Chicken Coop. It serves sandwiches, chicken, etc. El Mariachi Mexican restaurant is in the town of Lovingston, serving authentic Mexican foods. Most of these stores also have gas and diesel stations. Grocery shopping: Food Lion in Lovingston is about a 10 minute drive. IGA is also in Nellysford, about 15 minute drive. Mac's Country store in Roseland, a 5 minute drive, has basics and has gas. Also in Lovingston are some small stop in gas / stores. Dollar General, and Family Dollar are about 10 minutes as well. Several gas stations are close by as well as "mom and pop" convenience stores. The Nelson county web site also lists places to hike. If you should need medical attention, there are M-F Medical facilities in the Nellysford area: 1. UVA Family Practice and 2. Afton Family Practice. Urgent Care facilities and hospitals with Emergency care are located in Lynchburg, Charlottesville, and Waynesboro. There is local veterinarian in the Lovingston area during normal business hours.
