Downtown Forest Retreat
Downtown Forest Retreat
Description
**CONSTRUCTION DISCOUNT* Rare opportunity to book this home at a discount and help a local Superhost recover from storm damage. Patio roof is being rebuilt. Plenty of outdoor space to enjoy; inside is perfect! * Wake up to birdsong at a tranquil forest retreat with city views. Cook dinner in the well-appointed kitchen and cozy up by the large screen TV. Swimming quarries beckon amidst Urban Wilderness trails. A short walk to the South Waterfront, or venture across the bridge to urban nightlife. The space This is the upstairs 1/2 of a duplex and the owner lives below. The apartment is bright and airy with sloped ceilings in the living room and bedroom. The rooms are decorated with original artwork and houseplants, with a forest and seasonal gardens outside. We live in the woods so you may have insect visitors. You may see none at all, but please stay elsewhere if you are averse to an occasional stink bug, house centipede or wood cockroach (they are big). The space is clean and beautiful. This is a 1948 home and many of the features are original, so expect some character! **We experienced a tornado in Fall '2023 and are still rebuilding. The far, covered end of the patio is being rebuilt, but the section of patio near the front door has comfy sofas, dining table, chic outdoor carpets and a grill, and the gorgeous city views are the same! The inside has been repaired and is better than ever. We hope that our discounted price will alleviate any inconvenience due to construction issues.** Guest access The entire upstairs apartment, upper patio and upper front yard are for you to enjoy! No one else uses those spaces. If you’d like to tour the rest of the property, feel free to ask. Otherwise please refrain from wandering through the lower garage, lower patio or backyard. **If you book before May there is a slight chance that a construction crew will be rebuilding the patio roof during your stay. If this is the case I will arrange alternate parking and/or contact with the crew to ensure their work does not disrupt your enjoyment of the space. Thank you for your understanding!** Other things to note **Knoxville experienced a tornado in August 2023, and three trees fell on the home causing significant damage. The inside has been completely repaired. The outdoor patio area is still awaiting a new roof but there is plenty of uncovered, furnished patio space to enjoy. I have elected to resume hosting with the full disclosure that there may be construction noise or adjustments to the parking situation (it will still be onsite) from February - May of 2024. Thank you for your patience and support as I recover from this catastrophic weather event. It is so important to support local hosts, and I appreciate your patronage!**
