The Bluebird Cottage is located on a 4 Acre Estate on the Yeocomico River. A short ride by boat to the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay. Includes use of a Pool, Fire Pit and a huge Dock for fishing, crabbing, swimming, kayaking and boating. The Cottage faces West for some of the most beautiful romantic sunsets and a 200 degree view of the Pool, Dock and River from the second level deck. The kitchen is fully functional. The Bathrooms and Bedrooms are as well - the photos pretty much show all - what you need to know is that we do not provide any PERSONAL CARE items. There is a Rite Aid close by if something is forgotten and of course we will help you with any emergency. The Dock - Yacht Owners The dock is equipped to host a vessal as large as 65 foot. It has 50 and 30 amp power outlets and water hook ups. There is a full service Marina (Olversons) close by. The Yacht option must be approved by host. The Dock - Boat Owners One can launch their boat at the nearby Marina for $5. There are plenty places to tie up to the Dock. Host will not approve use of Dock if bad weather is forcasted. The Dock - Kayakers The 30,000 LB Boat lift has been modified with an adjustable platform with an inset and crash bar to allow for easy in and out of the Kayak. The Dock - Crabbing From May to September - with traps - we use 4 - you will always get at least 2 - if we are not using the other 2 - you can use 4 - droplines and nets are available for those who chose that method - the adjustabe platform allows for water level crabbing. The Dock - Swimming Swimming is great off the dock May/June and September - and even better in the months between (if there are no sea nettles present). From outer dock to the rocks - one can stand on somewhat firm sandy bottom - drops down to 8 foot at the main dock. Life preservatives are provided. The Dock - The Bennington Cruiser If the Host Captain is around and the weather is reasonable - he would gladly take the guests for a look around the Rivers and the Bay (at an agreed upon cost). No fishing is allowed while on the Bennington. The Dock - Jet Ski Lift We supply no Jet Ski option but allow anyone who brings their own to use one of our Jet Ski Lifts for convenience. The Pool - Swimming The pool is a salt water pool. It is not a heated pool - it is open from 1 June to 30 September for sure - earlier or later based on the weather that year. The Pool is locked - A key will be made available to you - swimming in Pool is AT YOUR OWN RISK! The Pool - Dining There is a table and chairs for dining - the table has a propane heated center for Spring, Fall and Winter use is for warmth - not cooking! Please DO NOT try to light the propane capability without talking with the host - it can be dangerous if not done correctly. The Fire Pit Guests are permitted to use the Fire Pit - Firewood is lined up along the fence in front of the Cottage - for small fee. Immediate area is rural - wide open spaces - nearest town is Callao and Kilmarnock, Tappahannock and Reedville are approximately 30 minutes away. You have exceptional privacy at the Cottage. Local road maps and Nautical map of the area are included in a reference booklet in Cottage. The Cottage Garage is Owners Space for storage - There is ample area to Park around the Cottage.
