Karingal on Hawkesbury, North-facing Waterfront

North-facing waterfront bungalow, privately set in semi-tropical garden with fabulous views over the Hawkesbury River towards Brisbane Waters National Park. Our ferry terminal at Brooklyn is just one hour from Sydney CBD by train or car, but step aboard and the ferry will take you a world away - to a car-free island with a friendly, close-knit community. The space This is a fully equipped, all-electric, air conditioned house with a combustion stove that keeps the whole house cosy in winter. For cooling in summer, as well as the air conditioner, there are ceiling fans in bedrooms 1 and 2, and a portable fan for bedroom 3. Bedroom 3 has twin king single bunks and can, on request, be configured with either a small single trundle or a cot, in addition to the bunks. Ask me for further options if you need to stretch the accommodation to 2 extra children by using the trundle and/or converting the sofa to a small double bed - extra charges may apply. All linen supplied, wide range of games, cleaners and basic foodstuffs saving you from having to bring these items across the moat. Arrive by water taxi to my private jetty, or by ferry to the public wharf. The house is a 3 minute walk along either the riverfront (then up 36 uneven rock steps) or up the road (and then down 42 more even pebble-filled steps). The steps make this property unsuited to people with reduced mobility - please check the photos. You and your luggage can travel uphill on the community buggy for a small fee. Note - the buggy operates on a CASH-ONLY basis. 2-person fishing kayak, plus two children's kayaks, stand-up paddle board, paddles and life jackets supplied free of charge. Also available: 1 children's balance bike to suit approx. 3 yr old; a stroller; dog beds and bowls of various sizes. King Parrots and Lorikeets will frequent the riverside veranda - feed them occasional small quantities of sunflower seed (stored in the laundry). Corellas pay the occasional visit and Kookaburras might turn up if they smell bacon for breakfast. Please contact me regarding bringing your dog. I do welcome one or two small, well trained dogs, but the property is not comprehensively-fenced (it suffices for my shih tzu maltese), and any larger dog will have to stay indoors or be on a lead at all times. Sorry, but due the cleaning effort I absolutely cannot allow large dogs that shed hair, such as Collies, German Shepherds or Golden Retrievers. Guest access The entire house & garden is for guest use. This is a fully functioning house, which I open up to short-stay visitors only a very few times each year. It has everything you might expect in a family home. My personal belongings are stored under the house, on a ceiling-height shelf in the 3rd bedroom and in some locked cupboards & filing cabinet. Games, books, DVDs and children's toys are all for guest use. Unfortunately I cannot offer a berth for your boat because all berths on my jetty are occupied. My pontoon can only be used for loading and unloading. Other things to note Have you noticed how many steps there are? Just saying :) This is a fantastic spot ... for people who do not have mobility issues. Don't bring more luggage than you need ! The house has all the basic cooking necessities - herbs, sauces, flour, rice, pasta, tea, coffee - and toiletries - shampoo, conditioner, soap, toilet paper - and laundry/cleaning supplies. Feel free to use what you want and, in the interest of minimum waste, you can leave perishables in the fridge when you go. I will be returning to the house within a day or so of your departure.
