There is a flight of stairs to our main entrance but guests with mobility issues can enter our downstairs entrance and stay on the lower level. The lower level has a kitchenette and full bath with stand-up shower, game room with couch and TV. The upper level has the main kitchen, living area, a covered porch, three bedrooms and a full bath The pier/dock area has a space to tie up your boat. We have plenty of parking in the driveway. Very close to Auburn area. Only 30 minutes from north side of town. In 1926 when Lake Martin was built; it was the largest man-made lake in the world! It was built as a hydro-electric dam to supply power to the region. Lake Martin, like all man-made, reservoir lakes, is subject to fluctuations in lake level. The dam has flood gates and spillways that are controlled by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Generally, seasonal level drops are October - April. During these lake level draw downs boating and dock access can be considerably limited. Rain and drought can also affect lake levels year round. If you are planning on boating during your stay, check with the owner to check the estimated lake level during your stay. Depending on where you are launching your own boat, access to the main part of the lake could be limited if the freeboard (height) of your boat prevents clearance of the highway 49 bridge. Touring the dam which is nearby is a fun and educational activity! Please note the washing machine and dryer are not accessible.
