Now accepting winter 2024 reservations! We are 10 min from Crystal Mountain Boulevard & Mt. Rainier National Park. Brand new Hop Springs spa (7 person hot tub) arrived in October. The space Crystal Cabin at Elk Beach is a cozy four-bedroom, two-bathroom cabin located on the White River. It is part of the Crystal Village community. The large back deck and hot tub, both new as of Fall 2023, allow you to enjoy views of the White River and the elk that frequently pass through. The river access area is shared with the nearby neighbors. The fourth bedroom is above the detached garage. To access the cabin, including the bathrooms, you must go through the garage and take a few steps outside. Most of the cabin's furniture was hand-made in 2021, much of it from western red cedar. Please be careful with it—cedar smells amazing and looks great, but it is pretty soft and easy to scratch. The house is well stocked with supplies for an extended stay. Starlink provides high-speed internet, 120mb/s, but it has a delay every 10 minutes or so (due to tall trees). That means it is great for streaming TV or working online but does not work well for Zoom calls. Please let us know if you need anything in particular for your stay. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house, the bedroom above the garage, and the large backyard with river access. Please note that the river front area is shared with the neighbors. The garage is mostly full of the owner's belongings, but guests have room to store skis, boots, and other extra gear. Please note that the fourth bedroom is located above the garage and is detached from the main house (no bathroom). Other things to note Our home is in a remote mountain community and comes with all the joys of wilderness living but also some of the challenges: The wifi (Starlink) has extremely fast download times (good for streaming HD videos, playing music, etc.) but inconsistent upload times, which can be an issue for video conferencing (i.e., Zoom meetings). Elon promises to improve this. There is no air conditioning in the house, which is typical for homes in this area. While this is not an issue most of the year, during unusually hot summer weather, the house can heat up. It is usually manageable by keeping the windows open and fans on in the evening/night and closing the windows and drapes again in the morning (especially the west facing windows and drapes). There are occasional visits from wildlife at the cabin. Please do not feed them and always make sure that food/trash is put away and trash bins are secured with carabiners. Wildfire smoke can occasionally be an issue. There are two air purifiers in the cabin for guest use. Power outages can also occasionally be an issue, particularly during winter months. In the winter, you can expect occasional snowstorms, which may mean that you need to shovel off deck areas and walkways that you wish to use. Please be aware that we cannot be responsible for any weather related challenges that arise during your stay.
