Description

Only 3 short blocks to the beach from the most prestigious property in the most picturesque and historic neighborhood downtown! The property's outdoors space, ambiance and light are precious relics of a bygone era. Awesome roomies - artists, musicians and outdoor enthusiasts - make a perfect place for surfers, great getaway for couples, super spot for solo adventurers, and a comfy respite for business travelers. We're always improving this landmark, so it isn't perfect but it's perfect for most! The space This historic landmark, turn of the century home, is a 7 bedroom Craftsman house with a large yard shaded by an enormous sycamore tree. From the porch, the sun and moon rise through the branches. Watching them from the rocking chairs you might think yourself in Savannah were it not for the soothing sound of the world class waves just down the street. The room is cozy with one window for amazing light and refreshing ocean air. There is a comfy full craftsman bed with 100% Egyptian cotton linens as well as a small french writing desk and a large closet. The house has two bathrooms, both shared, a full upstairs and half downstairs. Guests' varied schedules make it easy. The house and property are historic landmarks with many parts under restoration. A few spots of peeling paint on the ceiling and creaking steps are part of the charm as are the relics and century-old house parts in the backyard. The 116-year-old locks are nearly impossible to get keys for so we don't use them, the house/neighborhood is awesome enough that we don't need to. On rare occasions we get booked by people who expect a new house with a manicured yard and I can recommend plenty of other listings close by for that. If you want authentic Huntington Beach history and surf culture this is your spot. Guest access Guests are welcome to use all common areas of the property. Equipment/amenities are available on request. Bicycles, Surfboards, soft tops and wetsuits are available for rent at well below local rates. Surf lessons are our specialty and we also have solid crew of professional instructors, male and female, to suit every level of aspiring surfer. It is best to arrange in advance of arrival. During your stay The owner and roommates are often around to interact with guests as they wish. Travel advice, surf tips, suggestions for killer grinds (good food) and the occasional epic story over cocktails and BBQ can be had! The roomates are laid back easygoing people, 25-35; a fun, interesting, active and outdoorsy crew (surf, snorkle, skate, yoga, music, etc). Other things to note The house and property are historic landmarks with many parts under restoration. A few spots of peeling paint on the ceiling and softly creaking steps are part of the charm as are the relics and century-old house parts in the backyard. The 116-year-old locks are near impossible to get keys for so we don't use them. The house/neighborhood is awesome enough that we don't need to.
