Guests say their stay at the Mardi Gras House was a significant part of their traveling adventure--one not to be missed! The space The Mardi Gras House dates to 1912 and has been lovingly restored with indoor and outdoor gaslights and other exquisite architectural details reminiscent of the beautiful homes in the Garden District of New Orleans. Rooms include a 1920s French dress shop, 1890s New Orleans brothel and séance room, 1920s Art Deco movie palace, a railroad-themed jazz lounge, and an 1850s Chinese Courtyard. Luxuriate in the Carnival Room with a full-sized antique bed, 9-foot tall 1880s Louisiana French doors, and a giant neon carousal sign designed for Chicago's famed Riverview Amusement Park. Other amenities include a private, adjoining high-end white and green marble bath with an antique Belgium tiled stove converted to a sink/vanity. A fabulous cook’s kitchen awaits you, shared by you and your hosts, Craig, Kendri and Debbie. Be as secluded as you like or join in salon-style conversations with your hosts. The Mardi Gras House is two blocks from the historic Woodstock Opera House, Courthouse, Ethereal Event Space, and Woodstock Square, boasting shopping, dining, live entertainment, and an eight-screen movie theater. On and around the Square, visit the numerous sites where Groundhog Day was filmed. The Mardi Gras House, referred to by locals as "the Mansion" and "the Museum," is also two blocks from the train station where trains run every other hour to and from Chicago. Save your fair to the French Quarter and stay with us, or come from the French Quarter and feel right at home! Guest access Private first-floor bedroom/bath suite.
