Unique Historic Home in Prime Location in Dedham

Our unique, beautifully restored Tudor candle factory opposite Dedham's iconic church, is a spacious 3 bed, 3.5 bath house, only available for minimum 7 night stays. Set in a private courtyard with reserved parking and a classically English walled garden, central on Dedham High Street. With exposed beams, high ceilings & stained glass windows throughout as well as a flue-less gas fire creating a cosy & comfortable space for you to relax after a day exploring the Essex & Suffolk countryside. The space This unique and historic building is a converted two level Tudor candle factory, with a three storey extension offering accommodation for up to 6 people (capacity recently reduced due to prevent wear and tear on the property). Tucked away in a private courtyard just off the Dedham High Street, guests can enjoy the best of both worlds: a peaceful rural setting surrounded by unspoiled countryside, but with shops, pubs and cafes literally steps away. The property offers 3 king double bedrooms, with two of the bedrooms that can also be made up as twins if needed. There is also a double sofabed in the living room for up to 2 more guests, subject to a surcharge. Please let us know when booking what sleeping arrangements are required. The Tallow Factory has a large lounge with fireplace to relax in after a day exploring the countryside. We always get a real tree for Christmas and decorate the living room ready for you to seamlessly step into the festivities. The kitchen also offers a large oak dining table with benches and two chairs to comfortably seat 6 guests. There are multiple bathrooms with vintage but functional fixtures with separate hot water tank on first floor providing ample hot water on demand ensuring you can enjoy a comfortable stay. While it may feel quite dated in parts, there is a new central heating system and it is ideal for small families or groups of friends visiting the area, right in the heart of the village. We are directly opposite the church and next to a Michelin guide listed gastropub The Sun Inn (reservations recommended). With a well-stocked Coop open daily 7am-10pm and a second great pub The Marlborough just on the corner, once parked you may not need to drive anywhere, with a pharmacy, locally sourced butcher, cafes and lovely gift shops all within walking distance. Within 5-10 minutes walk down Mill Lane you will find yourself surrounded by open meadows with lots of long walks along the River Stour to Flatford and Manningtree. Guest access Guests have the whole place to themselves. Other things to note We have a no parties or events policy. Please read our house rules to familiarise yourself with them before booking. This is a self catering cottage so it is the guests’ responsibility to dispose of waste and recycling as best they can and to ensure all dishes used are clean upon checkout - turning the dishwasher on is sufficient.
