We've designed a cozy modern Scandinavian one-bedroom space for your comfort and enjoyment. This sleek and stylish living space has a city vibe and all the comforts as well as the amenities you need for a great stay. It is located on one of Northfield's most beautiful and historical streets and just a short walk from the beautiful campus of St. Olaf College. This space can be available as a two-bedroom at a higher rate, as well. Look for "Scandinavian Design Suite - Two Bedroom" As you walk up the driveway to our single family home, follow the path around the right side of the house. Take the stairs to the back door with the keypad. Upon entering the home, you will see the indoor pool and hot tub behind glass doors on the right. Turn left to walk down a short flight of stairs and go to the end of the small hallway. This is the actual entrance to your space! We will provide a code to the doors for you, so you can come and go as you please. Enjoy your stay in our Scandinavian Design Suite! You will find a well-lit space and unique features with all the amenities you will need for a cozy and comfortable stay. Enjoy a fully stocked kitchen, with stove, microwave, Keurig, toaster, refrigerator and some complimentary basics. An electric fireplace, a smart TV with cable, and a piano are located in the living room space for your entertainment. The full one-bedroom suite is private and lockable by code, which will be provided for you 24-48 hours prior to your stay. The INDOOR pool and hot tub are available by appointment only and at limited times at a rate of $40 for 1 hour OR $75 for 2 hours OR $100 for 3-4 hours. Contact us by messaging us through Airbnb and we'll see if we can accommodate you! The top two floors of the home is our family living space. We will provide our contact number, once you book with us, so that you can contact us with questions or concerns, as needed. We have one dog (golden retriever) who is very gentle and extremely friendly, and who shares the upstairs space with us! Manitou Street is an established neighborhood and known for it's canopy of trees and history. The home is located two doors from the historic Rolvaag House (the original home of Ole Rolvaag who wrote the book, Giants of the Earth.) An easy walk to Way Park or St. Olaf College (and a quick drive to Carleton College or downtown Northfield.) Close by and right in the neighborhood (just a 2 1/2 block walk) is the famous Ole Store Restaurant, a favorite hangout for college students, their visiting families and the locals. They serve a great breakfast menu and are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner all week long. Brick Oven Bakery is also a favorite of ours with good coffee, breads, pastries, and lunches! The community of Northfield has everything you need, including a very quaint and thriving downtown shopping and dining district. Some of the dining options include: Goodbye Blue Monday Coffee, Little Joy Coffee, Caribou Coffee, The Hideaway Coffee Shop, Tandem Bagels, Cake Walk, Hogan Brothers, Tokyo Grill, Fielder's Choice, George's, Basil's, B & L's, The Contented Cow, and Reunion.. These all great places to find food and drink! Downtown Northfield is a thriving historic district with many unique shops including The Rare Pair, Content Book Store, The Measuring Cup, The Sketchy Artist, The Northfield Arts Guild gift shop, MakeShift Accessories, The Eclectic Goat, Northfield Oil and Vinegar, and much more! Bridge Square is the center of the historic downtown next to the Old Ames Mill waterfall and riverwalk area. The Northfield Historical Society is the home of a museum and located in the old First National Bank (where the famous Jesse James raid took place in 1876.) The Northfield and Dundas area also have three fabulous brew pubs: Imminent Brewing, Tanzenwald, and Chapel Brewing. The apartment is located in a lovely neighborhood in the NW part of Northfield (close to St. Olaf Avenue and Way Park.) It is four blocks from the St. Olaf College campus and 9 blocks from the Carleton College campus. You can get around town by car or bike easily. The city of Northfield is also only 45 minutes from Minneapolis/St Paul airport. There are great hiking paths around both campuses. St Olaf College has the Norway Valley Trail for a short hike and the Prairie Loop that is a great long walk or running path. The upper and lower Carleton Arb is a wooded path that expands from the north end of campus, that is great for walking, running or cross country skiing. There is also a new 3-mile bike trail from Northfield to the nearby city of Dundas (the trail begins behind Walgreens!) We can provide parking for one car. Between the months of November and March guests will have driveway parking available. Between the months of April and October guests will have street parking available. If visiting between April and October, it is possible to have more than one car, but please contact us first.
