Description
Come and renew yourself in the heart of Guatemala's Ancestral Rainforest! Rest, connect with nature, with the organic, the living and natural in our space and comfort your heart and spirit surrounded by wildlife, endangered animals and the beautiful Maya-Q'eqchi culture. You'll spend memorable days! In our EcoLodge we have a primary forest reserve. Before booking, be sure to read the house rules and agenda suggestions in detail. Welcome! The space “Atz´umak” means “to flourish” in the Maya-Q´eqchi´ language and is a comprehensive training center where we promote the care, respect and appreciation of Nature, the Mayan culture and conscious life with values. We take special care that we are part of a traditional community and that we are hosts in a space surrounded by wildlife with its own processes and dynamics. The second and third levels of our eco-building are at your disposal, with up to 10 beds available, comfortably suitable considering social distancing and your safety. It is a large, open area with basic amenities (bed, pillows, blanket, towel and mosquito net) so that you can have days of rest and enjoy nature. There is a full shared kitchen with filters with water for drinking and cooking, outdoor showers, the bathroom (they are ecological latrines in excellent condition for the purpose of composting and not polluting groundwater), an organic garden with a wide variety of crops and organic food (which you can access at an additional cost) and trails and bridges in our forest reserve. Our magical space is part of a primary forest nature reserve, the same ecosystem as the Laguna Lachuá National Park. Endangered animals such as howler monkeys, chachalacas, toucans, micoleones, porcupines, a wide variety of beautiful birds and sometimes even macaws come very close to the rooms and common areas. Wild and lush nature surrounds us day and night, so it is normal to run into amphibians, insects, reptiles, birds, land and arboreal mammals of many kinds… you are the visitor in their home. We have suitable spaces to read, rest, walk in nature within our Private Reserve and if you wish, get to know the Chixoy River 2km away and the entrance to the Laguna Lachuá National Park 6km away. In Atz'umak, you will spend unforgettable days comforting the body, the heart and admiring the exotic and abundant beauty of the ancestral Guatemalan tropical rainforest. Guest access The second and third levels of our eco-building have wooden floors, so we ask that you do not wear shoes in the bedrooms, library, or kitchen. The second level has a separate entrance and the third level has separate entrances from the second level. We have covered space available for camping. You can bring your tent and the cost per person camping is Q110 with access to use all the common facilities. The kitchen is complete and has everything you need and basic to cook comfortably. The laundry room or sink is outside the kitchen, very close and is covered. We have organic and inorganic garbage separation. We have organic gardens with a wide variety of spices, food plants and fruits. There is a person in charge of the use, care and maintenance of the gardens and orchards. You can buy herbs and plants from our organic garden to cook and make delicious natural teas during your stay, at an additional cost depending on availability. We also have seasonal organic plants, crops and flowers for sale to take home; ask about availability, presentations and prices. Two ecological latrines are for your exclusive use. They are in excellent condition (for the purpose of composting and not polluting groundwater, since we are within a wetland ecosystem). The showers are outdoors and access to water is through well water with an electric pump. We do not have a phone signal or Wi-Fi, which is an excellent opportunity to disconnect from everyday life and connect with nature. Inside Azt'umak there is closed parking. We are within a Maya-Q'eqchi' community of hardworking, honest and organized people. That's why in our house rules we detail recommendations to consider during your stay. Other things to note Because we are hosts in a Q'eqchi' indigenous community and in an area with a lot of wildlife, we ask you to respect the following rules and behaviors that are essential for your well-being and safety: * It is recommended to stay within the Ecolodge Atz´umak, as the people of the community are quite reserved and some do not speak Spanish. * The entry, purchase or consumption of alcoholic beverages, drugs and/or any psychotropic substance is not allowed on the property and in the community. * Bring everything you need for your stay, as the local stores only have basic groceries and the nearest town (Playa Grande, Ixcán) is 30 minutes away by car. * Do not wear shoes inside the rooms and training center; please wear socks to use inside or be barefoot. * No loud music during the day. Music must be stopped at 8 pm. * The use and extraction of products from organic gardens is not allowed without the consent and supervision of the person in charge. * Hunting or fishing is not allowed inside the property, the community and the Chixoy River; it is forbidden to kill wild animals, except mosquitoes, flies, bedbugs or other potentially dangerous ones. * No smoking in the bedroom, bathrooms, or common areas. * For your safety, jumping or running inside the second or third level of the property (in rooms with wooden floors) is not allowed.
