Zomerrust is a dream under construction: A peaceful place in nature that is green and self-sustainable. Rob, the host, is building this dream and loves to share it with his guests. You will find adventure, nature, long hikes, different cultures, history, silence, and peace of mind. A stay at Zomerrust can be very meaningful and surely unforgettable! The terrain around the house is quite dynamic with a lot of steep parts. Good walking shoes are recommended ;) Meals and drinks are included! The space You are staying in the main house where you can use all facilities (kitchen, bathroom, living room, tv, etc.) that you share with the host (Rob) and/or other guests. In the bathroom there’s a washing machine you can use and outside there’s a line to hang the laundry. At Zomerrust you sleep at a shared sleeping room with 9 ready beds. There’s always extra blankets for when it’s cold. The sleeping room will be locked during the night, with the key on the inside. If you need to use the bathroom, you need to go downstairs through outside. The wooden house is heated by a wood stove and new floorheating. In the winter it can be very cold upstairs - but then there’s an electric blanket available. Guest access Guests have excess to the whole house except the garage, storage room and the host's bedroom. Other things to note About Zomerrust Rob moved to Bosnia to get away from the fast, stressful Western society and found his peace in (on) the hills of Potocari, Municipality of Srebrenica. His dream is to live a peaceful and (self-)sustainable existence in these Bosnian woods. The water at Zomerrust comes from a mountainwell. Rob builds with wood from the forrest around him. In his self-built woodwork barn he trains himself on several projects in different kinds of woodwork styles (e.g. timber framing). He hopes to hold workshops for local students there in the future. Besides the woodwork, Rob currently holds chicken in his small farm and he is accompanied by 6 ex-stray dogs (who are now really friendly pets). The chickens are located 300 meters from the house. De dogs stay outside at the terrace in front of the house. Rob has been hosting guests in his B&B since 2009. First he hosted mainly (Dutch) veterans who served in Srebrenica during the war. Because Rob really likes his job as a host, he has now decided to open up his B&B for everyone. If possible at the time of your stay, Rob can give you a tour around the area. Feel free to ask when you make the reservation or when you arrive at your stay. Zomerrust offers a unique and adventurous stay in rural Eastern Bosnia. For guests who need or prefer the privacy of an entire place to rent, there's another Airbnb stay 'Mihada's Place' in Potocari valley. Traveling in this area of Bosnia (for the first time) can be challenging for foreigners. Feel free to ask any questions if you need help or advice.
