Light, Peaceful Mt Tabor Guest House on Hawthorne

A former schoolhouse located on a serene stretch of one of Portland's most vibrant streets. It is a comfortable private space with a cozy but open layout, vaulted ceilings and skylights to bring in the natural light. You'll be a few blocks from hiking trails and stunning city views from Mt. Tabor, as well as a short walk to Hawthorne, Division, and Belmont where you'll find the full array of urban amenities. The space The guest house can comfortably sleep up to three adults (one queen bed + one sofa bed) or two adults and two children (the sofa bed is on the small side). For long term stays it is really only suitable for one person or a couple. The kitchen has a mini fridge, toaster oven, microwave, hot plate, rice maker, coffee maker and electric kettle for simple meal preparation. You'll find plates, cups, flatware and kitchen utensils in the cupboard. We also provide our favorite locally roasted coffee and a selection of teas. Music fans will enjoy listening to records on the record player. We have a small library of books, with a local focus. There is a patio area with a table and chairs for dining or lounging outside. Our Roku television is wifi connected and guests can watch television, sports games and movies with their personal media accounts (Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, etc). The guest house is professionally cleaned in between guests - if you should find anything out of order, just let us know and we'll take care of it. The space was previously used as a preschool, and as such has a bit of wear and tear. You will find some glitter paint on the baseboards, and some imperfect paint. We know the space is not perfect, but it is charming, and we price accordingly, hoping to give guests affordable access to this wonderful neighborhood. The property owner and family live in the house next door. The patio in front of the guest house is just for guest use. The backyard and play area behind the property owner's house/guest house are private for their use. Other things to note You may get a visit on the patio from our friendly black & white tuxedo kitty named Sweetpea. Feel free to play with him outside, but please don't let him inside. The guest house is kept pet-free for guests with allergies. Access to the space involves walking up a short but steep driveway. We don't allow use of the driveway without permission, so if you need to load or unload your belongings in the driveway at anytime, contact me in advance and I can make it available. We have the space treated for ants regularly, however, Portland in general, and Mt Tabor specifically, is known for having lots of harmless sugar ants.
