Welcome to huge panoramic views of the Smokey Mountains. This private retreat sits at 4,260ft elevation (15 minute drive to Cashiers). Property borders Panthertown Valley (National Forest), which is known as the Yosemite of the East. Private trailheads and waterfalls can be accessed from the home, without getting in a car! Lake, pools, hot tubs, sauna, pickle ball/tennis/golf, skiing, zipline, driving range, putt putt, gym, available for guest use at Sapphire Resort. Roads to house are paved. This is a beautiful, secluded and unusually flat 4 acre property with a meticulously maintained home and breathtaking views. From the front door and literally every room, you will have a birds eye view from Clemson to Whiteside Mountain. The mornings and evenings up here are truly amazing and the vibe is always surreal. If you are looking to relax and escape, you will not find a better place. Most importantly, the summer highs rarely, if ever, touch 79/80 degrees. The living room boasts a large wood burning masonry fireplace and the outside deck has a fool proof gas fireplace. The property is gorgeous and includes a tranquil sitting area with fire pit and views into South Carolina (Lake Keowee and Jacossee) The house includes all new furniture (king beds, new high end mattresses, wide screen TVs, etc.). Bathrooms are fully stocked and the kitchen/bar has everything you need to prepare a high end feast (high end wine and cocktail glasses). The house also includes an office with a desk and large curved monitor (this space can be used for infants/young children...pack-n-play included). Both the main house and guest house/suite include espresso makers (Nespresso pods of espresso and coffee provided). Wifi is usually great (except during major storms) and cell service is always fantastic (benefit of being on top of the mountain). If you are a walker or hiker, there is much to do without having to hop in your car. The property borders a national forest with tons of trails (Panthertown) and the neighborhood is great for casual walks. You can literally access private trailheads national forest trailheads via a 10 minute walk up the road. Guests also have access to Sapphire Valley Resort - three large pools, hot tubs, workout facility, wet sauna, playground, park, nature trails, zip line, ski slope/lift, arcade, tennis/golf/pickle ball and access to a beautiful lake with a 3 mile walking trail, beach, canoes and swimming area. A $2 pass per day/per guest (three day minimum) is required (contact host for details). The Guest House/Suite has heat but no A/C. At this elevation, the high during the summer is around 75 degrees (rarely if ever does the temp touch 79). If you find the space is hot, turn on the fan and/or open the porch door (keep screen closed) and enjoy the cool fresh mountain air. Cashiers (15 minute drive away) has everything you need - Grocery Store (Ingles), Farmers Market, Wine/Liquor Store, High End Butcher/Fish Monger, Restaurants, Sports Bar, Brewery, etc. Highlands, NC is a 35 minute drive away if you want fine dining and higher end shops. Sapphire does boast one fine dining establishment that is recommended (The Library). Details about water supply for our mountain top nook: The home as well as neighboring homes (4 total) share treated and filtered natural spring water from the mountain. A nearby pump house (holding tank and pump) provide great water pressure and water supply. Since we share a spring with our neighbors and since the property is on a septic system, out of an abundance of caution, guests are asked to use water responsibly. For instance, please do not take 2 or 3 showers at once or run the dishwasher/washing machine if it is not full. There will be plenty of water for all guests but please be cognizant of your usage. If there is a power outage, the pump at the holding tank will not operate. This happens once or twice a year, usually during a major winter storm. The shower/faucet will not work but there is plenty of back up drinking water in the garage. The house does a have a generator so even if power goes out to the house, the generator (barring an unusual malfunction) will kick into gear and provide backup power to the house. All roads leading to the house are paved and maintained year round, including during winter storms. They do become steep and quite curvy in places but UPS/FedEX, large dump trucks and even the occasional semi-trailer make it up. Just take your time the first go and you will quickly become comfortable. There is plenty of parking on the property's drive way/round about. Only ask is that you follow the "one way" sign in the drive way. The garage is off limits to guest parking. The streets in the neighborhood are super quiet (rarely see another car) and great for walks. Highly recommend. All guests will have 24hr access to property managers cell phone number. Do not hesitate to reach out. Sapphire High - Private Community 18 minutes from Downtown Cashiers. All roads are paved and maintained year round by the master association. Massive winter blizzards can delay road clearance by a few days. Sapphire High provides guest access to the amenities offered by the Sapphire High Master Association. This includes - pools (indoor and outdoor), hot tubs, the gym, saunas, lake access, ziplining, ski slope/lift, trails, playgrounds, arcade and much more. The property has its own private parking. Private hiking trailheads are walking distance. The neighborhood roads are fantastic for long walks. Cashiers and Lake Toxaway are an 18 minute drive away. Highlands and Brevard are a 35 minute drive away. Cashiers offers the best place to grab food and supplies (Ingles, farmers market, restaurants, etc.) If guests are opposed to drinking filtered/treated natural spring water, please bring bottled water. The house will have plenty of backup bottled water if needed. P.S. The owners (including pregnant wife, infant and four year old) drink the spring water when they live in the house (usually 3-6 months a year). But to each their own.
