Historic Maine Canoe Shop Near lake, hiking & A.T.
Over a 5-year renovation, we painstakingly converted this 120 year old Maine canoe shop into a luxe cabin experience! It has a loft with king tempurpedic bed and antique soaking tub overlooking the downstairs and out second story windows. Walk down the floating staircase to front and back doors opening up to beautiful grounds and large granite fire pit. Sink into the extra long vintage velvet sofa and watch TV, or dine under the stars outside! The YMCA indoor poos is next door. The space is beautiful, light and airy. Very romantic. The upstairs loft is open with king size bed, vintage soaking tub, lavatory and toilet. The loft curtain closes for privacy. Downstairs is a day bed/trundle bed that sleeps two (2 separate beds). Since this is an open area, it's best suited to one person or a couple, although there are extra beds in the event a group doesn't mind the space. Children can be allowed but we need to talk first since it's got a floating staircase and loft. We have a kitchenette with large slate sink, coffee maker, toaster oven and microwave as well as induction burners for any metal pans. Check out our 4 GORGEOUS ADDITIONAL PROPERTIES under my HOST PROFILE. You will have the entire space to yourself including the granite fire pit and picnic area. NOTE: I list pool and gym as amenities because the Y is 2 doors away. The pass is $10/day if you choose to use. The pool and gym are 200 feet away at the Y, not on the premises. I live across the street, and am readily available to help with any questions or to provide assistance at the Canoe Shop. We are located on the ATV and snowmobile trails on the edge of town. You feel you are in the country, yet its a 2 minute ride to the market, restaurants, pubs and Dunkin' Donut for your morning coffee! Just footsteps from the trails for hiking/biking/snowmobiling. Sparkling Sebec Lake is just a few minutes away. Rent a boat for the day and enjoy this 12-mile pristine lake. Plenty of great walking routes, and a 10 minute walk to town. Easy to bike to or walk to. You'll want a car to get to the Appalachian Trail or to Acadia National Park. No public transportation available. The loft is open with a cable rail system. The floating staircase has cables as well. A couple with younger kids could use this space if parents are responsible for the kids. Otherwise best suited for a couple or people who don't need a ton of bathroom privacy since the bathroom is upstairs in the loft area. The Barn Airbnb is next door, and that has a huge private bedroom, large full kitchen and private bath with shower if you are looking for a rustic space with more room. It’s listed under my other properties here on Airbnb. Screen shots of listings in photos.
