Two bedroom self-catering in St Margaret's Hope

Holly Bank is a well appointed self-catering house in the peaceful village of St Margaret's Hope, perfect for individuals, couples, friends and families. Within walking distance of the ferry to mainland Scotland and on the bus route to Kirkwall and Stromness, Holly Bank is the perfect base to explore all Orkney has to offer. Guests can enjoy the stunning views across the water to Scapa from the garden or from the comfort of the sofa through the large picture window. The space The house has a spacious living/dining area with adjacent kitchen. A doorway leads directly from the living area to the garden. Bedroom 1 has a king size bed and bedroom 2 has two single beds. A travel cot and highchair are also available. The bathroom has a bath with overhead shower. The entrance lobby has plenty of space for walking boots and coats as well as a washing machine and sink. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, tea, coffee and cooking essentials. There are plenty of books for folk of all literary tastes and ages, and a good selection of DVDs, jigsaws, board games and toys. The house has underfloor heating and is always warm and cosy whatever the weather outside. Guest access Parking for one car is available on site and a free car park (with EV charger) is available across the road. The house is a 2 minute drive (or 10 minute walk) from the ferry which runs between St Margaret's Hope and Gills Bay (mainland Scotland) three times a day, and a 20 minute drive from Kirkwall Airport. The city of Kirkwall is a 20 minute drive from the house and buses run regularly between St Margaret's Hope, Kirkwall and Stromness. Bus timetables are provided in the house. Other things to note St Margaret's Hope has everything you need for your stay, including a general store, post office/off license and two great places to eat and drink - Robertson's Coffeehoose and Bar and the Murray Arms Hotel and Seafood Restaurant. South Ronaldsay has some amazing coastal walks and sandy beaches and details of our favourite spots, along with maps, are provided in the house. The house is next door to our home, separated by a patio area. There is another patio on the other side of the house with plenty of garden furniture for you to enjoy and a large lawn in front. Living next door we are on hand and happy to answer any questions about the house or your stay, but will value your privacy at all times and will only contact you in an emergency or to let you know if the Northern Lights put on a show. During low season we offer a 3 night minimum stay and are flexible with check in dates. During high season (April - September) we offer a 7 night minimum stay with check in on Saturdays.
