Just minutes from town, this historic duplex offers a taste of old Mill Valley. Formerly owned by one of the founding members of Jefferson Airplane, the space was redesigned in the 1970s and it bears the imprint of the era. From the spacious living room, wind your way up a spiral staircase to the primary bedroom suite, which features a large bathroom, an extra room for office or yoga, and a private outdoor deck with a stunning view of Mt. Tam. The space PLEASE NOTE that this is a true duplex with a shared wall with a second Airbnb. The second-floor bedroom suite was the meditation and song-writing space for the legendary musician who designed it. Crowning the bedroom is a stunning copper-tipped redwood pyramid roof built by a local master carpenter, and a skylight through which to experience the night sky from bed. Additionally, the second floor has a loft with a small office space and a larger area for yoga, meditation, or listening to music (record player, records and yoga mats provided :-). The enclosed primary suite includes a deck and full bathroom, and though there is a small hallway and privacy between the spaces, there is not a door between the sleeping room and bathroom. For most guests this is not an issue, as there is a main door to the suite itself, but we wanted to be sure to cover the quirks of the home. If you enjoy beautiful and artistic ceilings, this is truly a feature in this home. With 5 artful skylights and many windows, this home offers incredible sunlight, and ample opportunities to gaze at the beautiful craftsmanship all around.
