The space The Light House Guest House is a purpose-built, furnished, short stay room on the second floor, with an on suite bathroom and private deck in Glencairn Heights, Simons Town, Western Cape, South Africa. It is the ideal breakaway spot for couples or single persons, to explore the Deep South or to simply relax and soak up the majestic Sea Views that the Indian Ocean offers. The changing seasons give you a chance to spot the Southern Right Whales (September/October), Orcas, schools of dolphins, surfing seals, sharks, or flocks of bird life migrating. In winter one can truly experience front row seats while watching the Cape Storms blow out across the seas. In summer, the South Easter Wind can blow at times, giving the kite surfers a real fun time. The immediate valley and surrounds offer surfing, kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling, and free-diving opportunities, adventures, and lessons. For the not-so-active persons, strolls on the beach, wine tasting, or sundowners at some of the fantastic restaurants close by, will not disappoint you. The Roman Rock Light House in the distance was fully automated in 1919, acetylene gas flashes visible from thirteen nautical miles out to sea now brighten the Cape sky once every six seconds with a power of 5000 CD, to guide South African naval boats home. Your hosts Jenny and Chris welcome you to share in the experience of exploring the Deep South, the nature, the wildlife, the restaurants, and all that this unique valley has to offer. With good quality bed linen and towels, the Light House Guest Room offers privacy, space, comfort and a fully equipped kitchenette, in convenient and attractive Glencairn Heights, situated near quaint Kalkbay village, Fish Hoek, Simonstown. There is a mini shopping center (5 min walk) with a Spar, laundry, bottle store, grocer store, car wash, etc. It is an ideal location for exploring the Cape Peninsula and False Bay. We provide basics tea/coffee. An honesty bar is available in your room. A separate braai/barbeque area is also available downstairs, on windless days on prior request as no braaing/barbeque is allowed on the guestroom deck. Guest access Even though the Guest Room is part of the main house, there is no access to the main house as it is accessed via a separate private entrance and staircase. Keys can be collected from your host or from the key safe box. On departure, keys can be left in the key drop box as arranged. There are allocated parking spots on the street directly below your deck. Other things to note The guest room is not suitable for pets or small children, as there are stairs and decks on the second floor. No lawns available.
