Other things to note We fell in love with this home the moment we saw it in 2019, and we hope you’ll feel the same. For us, it’s absolutely perfect—but we might be a bit biased! To help you know what to expect, here are a few things to keep in mind: Built in 1617, our home is majestic and beautiful, yet undeniably old. The wooden floors and stairs can creak, and even though we’ve fully renovated the roof, it occasionally makes funny noises, adding to the home’s character. Last year, we had a special visitor: a beautiful white owl who stayed in the attic for a few weeks. Though she’s since moved on, she left us with lovely memories of her occasional footsteps above. As this is a countryside retreat, nature is all around. You’ll spot graceful cows in the neighboring fields and tiny lizards basking on the sunlit walls of the tower. Along with these enchanting sights, you may encounter a few flies, the occasional mosquito, and perhaps a spider or two—it’s all part of the rural charm! We’re also near the Limoges-Brive train line. While the trains aren’t frequent and are barely audible indoors, you might notice them passing during the day. If you’re visiting outside the summer months, please note that the house’s grand rooms and high ceilings can make it challenging to maintain a toasty 23°C if temperatures outside drop to -10°C. We love this place for all its quirks and hope you’ll enjoy it just as much!
