Description
Enjoy this half-timbered house in the beautiful Wiltshire village of Steeple Ashton. In a quiet location next to magnificent gothic St Mary's Church, with its blue clock face, this handsome home blends seamlessly a wealth of period features with modern design. Inside are wood-burning stoves and plenty of space to relax. Outside is a large garden with pond and a patio for al fresco dining. The village has a well-stocked shop and a popular pub serving excellent meals. The space This is a very old house. It really is worth mentioning at this point that it is not suitable for boozy reunions or revellers! The ground floor offers well-proportioned reception spaces with a sitting room and drawing room - each with a wood-burning stove and enough wood for a fire - a dining room, small breakfast room, garden room, and laundry. The modern kitchen boasts a lofty ceiling, Wolf cooker and the clever integration of the original well into a breakfast coffee bar. There are four bedrooms with fine exposed beams, one with a beautiful Tudor tester bed. The property has been thoughtfully renovated, extended and finished to an impressive standard. The garden has a lawn, patio seating areas, a pond and a view of the magnificent church over the lane. There is parking in front and another driveway at the back of the house, though it's just as easy to park on the street. Other things to note The first floor is split into two halves each with its own staircase, pair of bedrooms and bathroom. The two areas do not interconnect upstairs. Mind your heads! There are some low beams and a couple of irregular steps to watch out for. There is some fine antique furniture - please do not leave glasses or mugs on surfaces without using coasters provided.
