Many different local builders, artisans and crafts people were employed to create a space that is welcoming, creative and inspirational while still honouring the history of the building, the village and the original architecture. There are many little design details that harken the past such as the beds and bedside tables that were designed using the irons of the old church pews which were sand blasted and repainted and incorporated into the structural design of the furniture. The custom tile and pebble floor in the showers reflect the amazing pebble beaches only a 2 min walk down to the waterfront. The lovely minimal Kitchen and bathroom cabinets were created by a local young carpenter who spent many an hour working around all the funny inconsistencies of an old building. Like an old church may have done this space brings people together from far and near to share company, stories and adventures. You will have two keys for the back doors which is your main entrance way. There is a beautiful newly renovated waterfront walkway, only five minutes away from the building. Enjoy the boats and ships and a great view of the Kingston pen and Lake Ontario while enjoying a pint and some pub grub down at the Portsmouth Tavern only a five minute walk away. We are next-door to Tim Hortons for a quick coffee and treats or if you like good bakery food head down to the Wilton Wheat King’s bakery in the back of the Portsmouth Tavern on the waterfront. Don’t mind the No-parking signs in the driveway. We keep them there to stop people from parking in our driveway and going next door to Tim Hortons. There is lots of parking for up to 4 vehicles. This is ABSOLUTELY a non-smoking space. If you have a guest with you that is a smoker please make sure that they go for a walk away from the building to smoke. Please do not light candles as the smoke alarms/strobes are sensitive. PLEASE leave the house the way you found it and do not move furniture around. ENJOY yourself and let us know if it is too hot or too cold for your liking as we can adjust the temperature for you. Regarding Children: We have some toys in the bottom cupboard of the games cabinet for little people. Lake Ontario Park is only a three minute drive away from the building. During the summer months, they have a wonderful splash pad and all year around an amazing park. Across the street from the Portsmouth Tavern on the waterfront just down the road there is also a park in the harbour. Be aware that this space has open cupboards with dishes ground level. There are also breakables that we would appreciate if you were careful to make sure that small hands do not break. Also please do not let children stand or jump on the yellow arm chairs and other furniture.
