Set in the peaceful hamlet of Keld, this traditional Grade II listed cottage, with original stone staircase, is the perfect cosy getaway - or an ideal base for exploring further afield. There are stunning views across to the Eastern fells, and the cottage is just a 2-minute stroll from the edge of the National Park, and a short walk from English Heritage site Shap Abbey. Easy access to the Lake District, Eden Valley and Yorkshire Dales. A hidden Cumbrian gem. The space Set back from the road with a small private garden and patio area in front, Holly Cottage is accessed via a porch, with coat rack and space for muddy boots. Downstairs is an open plan living room and kitchen diner, with two windows looking out onto the garden. Comfy sofas and modern appliances go hand-in-hand with period features, including original beams and exposed stone. Here, you will also find a folder of information about the local area. The kitchen is stocked with cooking oil and salt & pepper. Eco-friendly dishwasher tablets are provided. A small step takes you from the main downstairs room into a small hallway, with a drying room (where you can find a drying rack, extra coat pegs, vegetable storage and board games), and original stone staircase leading upstairs. Upstairs consists of a landing with three rooms leading off. The main bedroom has a king size bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and chair. Above the bed, is the (now blocked-up) original stone-and-wood chimney. A window looks between the two traditional stone barns opposite to the fells. The second bedroom has two single beds, and a window with the same aspect. In the bathroom, there is a bath, with shower over. Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and soap are all provided. Holly Cottage is proud to support eco-friendly initiatives, and stocks toilet paper from Who Gives a Crap. Towels and bedding are provided. In front of Holly Cottage is a small private garden and patio, with table and four chairs for outside dining. Guests also have use of the tennis court next door (rackets and balls available). Other things to note A notable feature of Holly Cottage is the original stone staircase – which is full of character, but also steep, and may be unsuitable for guests with mobility issues.
