Our private-entry casita is nestled in the pines, boasts a canyon view, and is only a 5 minute drive to LANL, the Fuller Art Lodge, and the historic district. You’ll enjoy a luxurious queen bed, spa-like bath, and fully equipped kitchenette (stocked with treats!). Clerestory windows keep the space light and bright. Set back on the lot with a private patio and driveway. Easy access to Bandelier, Pajarito Ski Mountain, and downtown via shuttle or car. Let our casita be your home away from home! The casita is well appointed, clean, and comfortable, with an over-sized full bath and a separate bedroom with a queen size pillow top bed and 3 inch memory foam. Our spare sleeping options are comfortable too, see notes below. We stock the kitchenette with all the dishes and cookware you'll need for up to 4 guests, including a toaster, blender, tea kettle, and Keurig. Our kitchen is equipped with a microwave, range and small oven. We provide coffee, tea, and continental breakfast offerings such as bagels or muffins, our own farm eggs, assorted hot and cold cereal, milk and juice. We also add fresh baked goodies on the weekend for you to enjoy! Our smart TV includes free Netflix and other viewing options (no cable). The laundry includes complimentary cleaning products for your convenience. We will collect and launder provided linens and towels if you need them refreshed during longer stays. Note: the single bed is a 10” bamboo mattress with a memory foam topper on a supportive frame. When the spare bed is set out we recommend stowing luggage below it for extra space-saving storage. Completely private casita set away from the host residence through a short stroll through our backyard. Private off street parking to the left of the main house, private walkway, enclosed patio and access to Pueblo canyon right from behind the casita. 24 hour keyless access (code given after booking). We are usually at home or minutes away, and are more than happy to help you get settled in or orient you to the area. We understand the value of truly getting away from it all, but we love to interact if invited! We provide a map of the trail system accessible from our street, along with other helpful brochures and a list of nearby dining and recommended activities. The National Lab is only 1.5 miles west (I.D. must be presented at the checkpoint). Bandelier National Monument is a 25 minute drive (mandatory free shuttle from White Rock, May-October 18). Our very own Pajarito ski mountain is only 6 miles away, and is beautiful in every season. Our town's original scientists founded the ski club that runs the mountain to this day. Runs for all levels, and very affordable. The Jemez Springs area makes for a lovely day trip, and includes Valles Caldera, a volcanic national preserve that features elk herds. The area includes many amazing and free cultural and historical activities, and the free Bradbury Science museum and PEEC Nature Center are not to be missed. Easy driving access to Santa Fe (45 minutes on average). The Atomic City Transit shuttle is free and convenient to accessing local areas, the lab, and downtown. The nearest shuttle stop is less than .5 mile from the casita. Shuttle does not run on weekends. The historic district (including Fuller Art Lodge), park, and library are less than 2 miles away, and Smith's grocery is 2.5 miles away, about a 5 minute drive. Other options include the excellent Pajarito Trail system--yes, we have an app for that! You can hike into the canyon from the casita to the historic district and park in 1.5 miles. In winter we typically get occasional light snow in town, with sunny days and temps ranging from 20-45 degrees. It can be icy walking in snowy conditions. We keep the walkways and drive shoveled and maintained with ice melt or anti-slip runners, but please watch your step. The streets are regularly plowed. Driving to the higher elevation areas such as Pajarito Mountain and Jemez area may have slushy/icy conditions, but all main roads are regularly plowed. The casita is thoughtfully stocked and is spacious for 2 guests in the queen bedroom. Another 1-2 guests can be accommodated at no extra charge with a double sofa bed and a single bed set up in the living area. The single is a supportive 10” bamboo mattress topped with memory foam and quilted pad. We can include a pack and play and toddler dishes for children, although for 4 guests in total the space does get a little small. We offer limited low cost shuttle to Pajarito Ski Mountain or Bandelier for up to 4 guests in our AWD Sienna minivan. Subject to availability. We also provide transportation from the Los Alamos airport if needed. If you’re here with your family, I offer affordable childcare for date nights, depending on my schedule. I am a former nanny. pre-k worker, and program leader at an adventure camp, and currently work in a church nursery. As a current foster parent, I hold an up-to-date background check and trainings, including CPR and First Aid.
