The space The Night Hawk is a cozy, rustic-chic 1 bedroom / 1 bath 1950’s homestead cabin, newly re-imagined and decorated, sitting on 5 acres of unfenced Mojave Desert wilderness in Joshua Tree, CA. Guest access While you’re staying at The Night Hawk Homestead, the entire cabin and amenities will be yours to use. You have full access to everything as seen in the photos. You'll get a unique lock code to check yourself in, and you can check in anytime after 4:00pm. Check out is at 11:00am. Other things to note - As of August 1, 2018, San Bernardino County is now collecting a Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) through Airbnb for all Airbnb properties in the area. This tax is required by San Bernardino County is included in the nightly rate. For our area, Airbnb does not yet break this down as an extra line item, but rather is included in the base price. - We are on a fragile septic system here in the desert and the cabin has old plumbing. PLEASE DO NOT FLUSH ANYTHING OTHER THAN TOILET PAPER DOWN THE TOILET! This includes but is not limited to baby wipes (or wipes of any kind), feminine hygiene products, facial tissue, paper towel, hair etc. These things WILL clog the system and you will not be able to use the shower, sinks or toilets. Pretty please! Trust me it’s no fun! - We try to be as eco-friendly as possible due to the limited resources here in the desert. Please be mindful of how much water you use and please turn lights/electronics off when not in use. - Although the water in the cabin is potable & provided by The Joshua Basin Water District, There is an Aquagear Water Filtration Pitcher in the refrigerator for your use. - The cabin is beautifully bright and sunny. We recommend bringing a sleeping mask unless you want to be up early with the sun. - Our floor is polished concrete which can get pretty cold in the winter. If you have a cozy pair of socks you like, you should bring them for wearing around the house. - While we have the house professionally cleaned, please make sure that your dishes are cleaned and everything has been returned to where you found it upon arrival. This helps our cleaning fees stay low. If dishes are left undone an additional cleaning fee may be taken out of your security deposit. - In the desert, critters are simply a fact of life. Just a warning for those wary of bugs; even though we have the house cleaned after each guest, we simply can't avoid the occasional critter from breaking in. - For photo shoots/films and anything else similar contact us first for permission. - Please respect the wildlife and vegetation in the desert. What looks dead to you may only be dormant. - Because there is a military base in 29 Palms, you may hear an occasional muffled sonic boom in the distance. This is normal, don’t be alarmed. Finally, have fun, but treat the cabin and wildlife on the property with respect. It is a piece of history and we put a lot of love into it and we want our future guests to enjoy it as much as you.
