Joshua Tree SAGE HOUSE ~ Minutes from JTNP

There is a feeling of tranquility the minute you enter the gate. Located in the exclusive Monument Manor with extraordinary views of the mountains and park. Watch gorgeous sunrises, sunsets and moonrises over the mountains. We currently have a resident roadrunner. With a bit of luck, you will see him peeking in the doorway. Dirt roads and no streetlights make the night skies very dark — perfect for epic star gazing! This home is the perfect escape from city life The space Sage House is located in an extremely peaceful and quiet area which was once part of Joshua Tree National Monument. The home and grounds are perfect for anyone wanting the serenity of the desert. The house once belonged to renowned artist Ed Moses. It has since been modernized and has a fully functional kitchen and large glass sliding doors. The two bedrooms each have high-end comfy mattresses – one is a King, the other is a Queen. The kitchen is fully-equipped with a gas oven and range, a fridge with ice maker, microwave and a dishwasher. The kitchen is fully-stocked with cooking utensils, pots, pans, cooking oil, assortment of spices, some condiments, coffee and tea. We supply either Peet's or Joshua Tree Roasting Company coffee. There is a large outdoor table, a propane grill (and a small Weber) for grilling, as well as a table in the kitchen area. We recommend stocking up on groceries in Yucca Valley, 7 miles to the west. On the west side of the property, there’s a 1959 streamline trailer with pink sinks and a pink bath tub. It’s like stepping into a time capsule. Feel free to take a look inside. Spend your days hiking or rock climbing or just relax at the property with a book and some music. Explore the local shops and restaurants in the village of Joshua Tree and Yucca Valley. Favorite restaurants: JT Country Kitchen, The Joshua Tree Saloon, Crossroads Cafe, Sam's Indian Food and Pizza, Snake Bite Roadhouse, Copper Room and Tiny Pony Tavern. Also Kitchen in the Desert or 29 Palms Inn as mentioned below. And our favorite place — La Copine —in Flamingo Heights. Open Thu-Sun, check the new hours. Reservations suggested. For for lunch or breakfast: The Big Dez, Food for Thought Cafe, Yucca Tree Eatery. To grab a to-go sandwich, check out Roadrunner Grab n Go and The Little Dez. In Pioneertown, Pappy and Harriet's or Red Dog Saloon are favorites — check days and hours. (You will also find a list inside the home.) 29 Palms has some good restaurants as well. Two favorites are: Kitchen in the Desert (amazing food, but slow) or 29 Palms Inn (check out Oasis of Mara when you are there) and Ground Squirrel. If you are exploring the park for more than a day, purchase a park pass at The Visitor Center in the village or at the park entrance. Favorite hikes: Barker Dam, Skull rock, Hidden Valley. There are so many...we have guide books in the house for more details. NOTE: We have new safety cleaning protocols and have bumped up the cleaning fee slightly. Thank you for understanding. We love having children as guests and have a variety of games, toys and books. There is a large screen TV with StarLink internet connection. (There is also a highchair and a pack-n-play — but please ask ahead if you would like to use them so they can be made available.) NOTE: Only registered guests are permitted on the property. And there are to be no gatherings without special permission. Although we love DOGS, we are very cautious about allowing them on the property due to the fragile desert landscape. There are resident cottontails, jack rabbits, Gamble quail, roadrunners and other animals who are out feeding during the cooler morning and evening hours. {PLEASE ASK BEFORE BOOKING if you would like to bring ONE pet. } The pet fee is $25 per day. (Airbnb automatically bills for ONE night only. We will send payment request for the additional nights closer to your actual stay.) INTERNET: We now have faster internet thru StarLink (satellite internet), but cell phone service is still spotty (AT&T being the most reliable). Guest access Guests have access to entire house and property. There is a shaded area to park a car. There is a 28 foot time-capsule 1959 Streamline trailer on the property. You are welcome to take a look inside! Other things to note Before check-in, we'll send you directions and the code to the lockbox. You can arrive anytime after 3pm and check yourself in. Please put the keys back before checking-out at noon. Please ask if you would like to check in an hour or so earlier. We will accommodate you if possible. This house has a delicate septic system.
