This is the definition of family-friendly and couple's sanctuary. Just minutes from downtown New Paltz, Mohonk Preserve, and Shawangunk Mountains lives the idyllic Mohonk House. Pristine and private, this 3-bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home sits on 2 acres with an expansive backyard space featuring an above ground pool, hot tub, grill, & fire pits for outdoor entertaining. Note: extra nightly fee for extra guests over 8 with a maximum guest number of 10. Home is not pet allergy free! The space Welcome to Mohonk House where you will find peace and serenity with Mohonk Mountain and Skytop Tower as your backdrop. On a very quiet country road perfect for walks, just 5 miles from New Paltz, you won't believe how quiet it is at night. You will find everything you need for a quick trip away or a long term stay with the family or as a romantic retreat. THE SPACE: Upon arrival you approach our large Arts and Crafts inspired front porch complete with porch swing. Step into the foyer with the living room on the left which flows into the dining room and then into the large eat in kitchen. In the living room, cuddle up on the large sectional couch and watch the large screen Smart TV. Plenty of room for large groups to gather with lots of seating and intimate corners. The couch table has four stools for a late-night snack or a game. The living room flows into the dining room with it’s large mission style dining table that can seat up to ten people. Lots of board games available for those rainy days. The large, well-stocked country kitchen has an island with four stools and a kitchen table with four chairs. Another great place for morning coffee or nighttime games. All Whirlpool appliances including a large refrigerator/freezer. You have everything you need to make a meal or bake a treat, including a Kitchen Aid stand mixer, Ninja air fryer/convection oven and both a Melita and L’Or coffee systems. Plenty of pots and pans, spices, baking utensils should you want to cook. A large workspace in the kitchen complete with Epson printer gives you plenty of space to work from home with a view of the front yard. Upstairs there are three bedrooms with sleeping space for 8-10 people, a guest bathroom and a laundry room with large washer and dryer. The large Master Bedroom Suite is a sanctuary all on its own with en-suite bathroom, king size bed, large screen Smart TV which swivels towards the bed or the sitting area, a lovely sitting area overlooking Mohonk Mountain, and a private balcony for two with stairs that lead directly down to the six-person hot tub, outdoor shower and large pool. The futon in the Master Bedroom can be opened up to a queen-sized bed upon request. Bedroom #2 with a beautiful view of the mountain and cliffs, also has a king sized bed, a TV and large closet. The guest bathroom is right next door. Bedroom #3 contains a queen-sized bed and bunk beds to sleep four with the guest bathroom just down the hall -- it does not have an air conditioner. OUTSIDE SPACE: Walk out of the dining room onto a large main deck with beautiful views, a small fire pit, a Weber gas grill, access to the six person hot tub and plenty of seating. Stairs lead down to the outdoor hot and cold water shower. Two steps up and you are on the large pool deck surrounding the above ground pool (No Diving) where there are plenty of loungers for sunbathing and a table that seats four. Note that the pool is heated by passive solar panels -- without sunny days the pool is not heated. Another great place for morning coffee. Plenty of shade provided by the free-standing umbrella. Enjoy the pool and back yard with the kids all day while eating your meals outside. At the end of the day you can stick the kids in the outdoor shower before bedtime and then the adults can enjoy a quiet fire on the deck with the Mohonk Tower light pointing you toward the north sky full of stars! The large back yard is bordered in the back by protected lands -- a wildlife sanctuary. There is a large firepit and plenty of space for a game of tag or hide and seek or maybe a game of Bocce or Corn Hole (games provided). In July wait for the fireflies to fill the back yard! Even with our high standards for cleanliness, an occasional ant, spider, beetle, stinkbug, fly, mosquito, gnat, or grasshopper may find it's way into the house. We understand that encountering bugs during your stay can be a cause for concern, but we want to reassure you that it is perfectly normal for a property in this area to have insects. The Mohonk House is 5.8 miles from NYS Thruway exit 18; and about 4.5 miles from the Village of New Paltz. Guest access The entire property is private and reserved solely for guests' use with the exception of the garage and basement. Other things to note 500 mbps internet -- especially great for those working remotely. We welcome a small dog but, unfortunately, cannot accommodate cats. Please be aware that the property is in a rural, country setting. Even with our high standards for cleanliness, an occasional ant, spider, beetle, stinkbug, fly, mosquito, gnat, or grasshopper, etc. may find it's way into the house with doors opening and closing. We understand that encountering bugs during your stay can be a cause for concern, but we want to reassure you that it is perfectly normal for a property in this area to have insects. Our team regularly takes measures to minimize their presence, such as routine and safe pest control and thorough cleaning, but please keep in mind that bugs are a part of the local ecosystem and can enter the property despite our best efforts.
