The elevated bed is built into the nook of a large window, a step up from the garden outside. The double bed is comfy for two who care to cuddle. There's a door to the south covered porch with theater seats overlooking the garden. The vintage kitchen, custom bathroom, warm common spaces and heirloom garden are all yours to enjoy. The space The full double bed is elevated and 6"wider than standard, perfectly comfy for two. Sheets are good cotton, blankies are down, wool or silk. Colors are rich and calming. Laundry products are fragrance-free. What was once a greenhouse outside it's door is now a covered sitting porch with a row of theater seats to notice the happenings around the honey-hive, bird bath or your own wild mind. Here's a unique place to find yourself; a beautiful peace of countryside located 12 minutes S.W. of downtown Portland, Oregon. There's a a bit of old world here; a sweet retreat from the hipness & culture we love about Portland. The home is nestled in the quiet & beauty of mature heritage gardens with an old forested park down the lane. You can enjoy hikes through the woods, over the stone arched bridge, or find refuge here, indoors & out. There's some good art and great books in every room. There are 3 entrances into the garden, two with covered decks and seating. The bathroom floor is heated beneath the smooth blue pebbles; the shower is built for two. Vintage kitchen is updated & easy. But why cook? I'll provide easy breakfast fixins'; you can make your coffee, tea, or juice in the Vita Mix. There's a fire pit down by the grapes, and the hot tub is beneath the timber bamboo. Chickens are clucking across the creek. Our old dog Joey just watches them now. The wood stove can be a warming comfort any season. Its probably best to have a car here; frequent public transport is a 15 minute walk away; the bus up at the corner only comes once an hour and the winding roads don't have bike lanes, but I bike to town in 30 min. There's an organic grocer up at the corner and a few restaurants nearby but not of much of note for a foodie; for that you've got to go to town! Guest access You have access to all parts of the cottage as pictured, except the other bedroom if another guest is there. During your stay Socializing with us is optional but this is like a house share; we enjoy an atmosphere of warmth and common courtesies. We have our own kitchen, baths and living spaces on other floors of the house. We might share the same entrance, kitchen and dining room. We are friendly people who can appreciate both privacy and conviviality. Other things to note Accessibility notes: The home is on a hill and there are steps and stairs to negotiate.
