Cypress Villa - Hot Tub & Swimming Pool (Suite)

Our bright and sunny, south facing and cozy west coast villa is perched on Mt. Holmes. Towering above the quaint town of Youbou and overlooking the spectacular Cowichan Lake, it blends the indoors with our vast coastal mountains. The home has spacious open plan living, dining & chef’s kitchen. Sliding doors throughout offer access to your huge wrap around deck with large private hot tub, large private swimming pool area, sun loungers/hammocks, conversation sets, outdoor dining & BBQ. The space Our villa style home has a very large deck; perfect for entertaining. The well stocked kitchen is also spacious and has a wall oven and an extra large fridge and freezer to easily stock supplies for your entire stay. There are two bedrooms in the house, one king and one queen. The master has an ensuite bathroom, and there is another bathroom in the corridor with a pebbled shower floor and heated tiles. In the separate pool house, there is a small bedroom with 2 bunk beds (4 separate twin beds in a tight space) and full bathroom (short showers only). There is a live edge bar overlooking the pool and lake, with mini fridge to serve drinks pool-side, during summer months. Access to the main house is via the garage or the wrap around deck. The (unheated) garage features a full sized pool table and a daybed for lounging - the after-party spot. Guest access 10 minutes walk / 2 minute drive to Youbou's waterfront gem, Arbutus Park - swings, trails, kayak launching and enclosed swimming. Outdoors: Hot tub & BBQ for year round use. During winter there is a large hot tub umbrella for cover from rain. The swimming pool is furnished from May until September. The pool is heated to a comfortable 85f, included in rates from June 15 - September 15. Enquire for pool heating outside of this season at an extra daily cost to cover large hydro usage (weather permitting). Pets: Dogs can be off leash in your large enclosed deck area, and there is a small gravel area (down a staircase) for them to relieve themselves. The one-acre property is fully fenced and gated for dogs to run, but please leash or closely supervise them and pick up after them at all times. We have a nervous dog in our suite and wild animals roaming. Parking: There is ample parking by the entrance for cars, but the driveway is steep and winding so only small trailers/boats can fit. Please inform us in advance if you will be bringing any special equipment. If there is an ongoing snowstorm around your check in date, you may need to park by the road and walk up our steep driveway - be prepared for an adventure! Other things to note There is a heat pump system throughout the main house which keeps you warm even with extreme winter cold snaps and cool during Cowichan "warm land" heat waves. The pool house has bedroom baseboard/bedroom electric blow eating and a fan is provided to keep cool in summer (it usually stays reasonably cool during summer being north facing, but be aware there is no A/C). Our driveway is steep and has a short gravel section. For towing small trailers or boats, a 4x4 vehicle is essential. Cell reception is patchy in our home. Modern smartphones have "wifi calling" feature which will enable your phone to make and receive phone calls and texts as normal, when connected to wifi. Best connection is at the front of the house/on the deck. ________ We stock candles and a generator in case of a power outage, and wifi will run on battery. Being rural, we sometimes experience storms & prolonged outages - in that case we would offer cancellations or discount rates of any following nights. Late season forest fires are not uncommon here.
