Bring your water toys and use the public boat ramp at Arcadia (5 miles away) to launch your adventure. Little Creek Casino provides live entertainment and several delicious dining options. The Story of Sembradora so far: In the fall of 1992, my Mom helped a friend relocate from Portland, OR to Austin, TX. En route, they stopped for a meal at one of my Mom’s favorite venues, Rancho de Chimayo in New Mexico. Mom was attracted to a 4 foot tall stone statue of a woman seeding her garden in the entry courtyard of the restaurant. As they were leaving, she noticed a “for sale” sign at the foot of the statue and decided to track the artist down. After scouring the nearby villages she found Frank McGuire in Cundiyo. He offered Mom a payment plan for the piece and she quickly agreed. When Mom returned home to Olympia, WA she noted the restaurant and her statue were in the NYTimes! And now Mom feels she must have the statue near. The 600-pound statue, named Sembradora, has been in the courtyard of a private residence in Santa Fe and is targeted for arrival in Shelton shortly. After more than a quarter of a century Mom will be united with her statue. The meaning of Sembradora is seed sower, Mom thinks this is just what Sembradora, the retreat, has to offer.
