This stylish cottage has been completely renovated for your enjoyment with an electric fireplace, mood lighting, retractable ceiling fan, 2 large flat-screen TVs, & free wi-fi. Perfect for your stay in the lower Hudson Valley/ Northern Westchester area. Close to West Point, Peekskill, Blue Mountain State Park, Harriman State Park, FDR Park, the Appalachian Trail, and Bear Mountain Park. Easy access to the Hudson and Croton Rivers, Croton Point Park (beach), Van Cortlandt Manor, and Yorktown. The space The Cottage sits on the back of our main property and is a separate building. It has an adjacent patio with a grill and a small yard with a picnic table and play area for young kids. To allow guests the maximum amount of privacy possible for this location, a privacy wall was recently added. The neighborhood has 2 small lakes/ponds and a playground within walking distance. A pizza shop, Dunkin Donuts, Big Lots, and Kohl's are also within walking distance. Walmart, a movie theater, 3 supermarkets, a Trader Joe's, BJ's, and various other stores are a short distance from The Cottage. The Peekskill train station is approx 2 1/2 miles away, and the Bee Line bus stops at the end of the road and can take guests to White Plains and other locations (see Bee Line website for details). THINGS TO NOTE: Although the Cottage is close to numerous natural attractions and trails, it is in a suburban neighborhood of NYC, and NOT a remote setting. Please use the VRBO map to get a satellite view of the property. A street view of the property and neighborhood is also available with an internet search. Also, the second-floor bedroom is accessed using a spiral metal staircase. Spiral staircases are subject to rules and regulations that govern the width and depth of the steps to ensure they are as safe as possible. Spiral staircases are deemed to be significantly safer than ladders, and some experts claim they are safer than standard stairs. We also want guests to know that a neighbor's chick recently grew into a rooster. Most of our guests have told us that the rooster does not bother them. However, for any guests who may be sensitive to the noise and as a means to promote better sleep, a white noise machine was added to each bedroom. Guest access There is a yard adjacent to The Cottage as well as a porch that abuts a patio where guests can sit under an umbrella, use an outdoor grill, and enjoy the small garden. Other things to note Child dinnerware/flatware, a high chair, and outlet covers are available upon request. Please note that we do not have a baby gate and the property is not child-proof. Children should be supervised at all times.
