The City of Mosier is a small community of 430 people on the south bank of the Columbia River an hour east of Portland, Oregon. It has its roots in the fruit orchard industry. There is one main dinning choice in Mosier - Mosier Company (MoCo). There is also Mosier Market for essentials. Mosier is connected by the pedestrian and bicycles only historic Hwy. 30 to the world famous windsurfing town of Hood River, 7 miles to the West. The Historic Columbia River Highway winds along the Columbia basalt cliffs to outstanding gorge views. In the spring, acres of breathtaking wildflowers blanket the hills. Hiking, biking, and bird watching are favorite recreational activities. Wineries and local orchards are scattered throughout the greater Mosier Valley. Mosier is located in a transitional weather zone between the moist, heavily-forested west side of the Cascades and the drier bunch grass prairies of the arid central Oregon desert region. You might notice this when you look out the windows and see the transition from trees to sagebrush covered hillsides. The climate is also different to Portland, typically Mosier gets 30-45 more sunshine days per year, less rain, and the average temperature is warmer in summer months by 10-15 degrees and colder by the same in winter months. If you are driving there is easy access to historic Hwy. 30 and to I-84 (exit 69). There is a pedestrian and bicycle route through two historic twin-tunnels along the Columbia River Scenic Highway just west of town. This five-mile route connects Mosier with the City of Hood River. About five-miles east of town on Hwy. 30 is Rowena Crest viewing area. Trailheads are located at both ends of the park and may be reached by following Old Hwy. 30 from either community. The railroad track and I-84 are close by and there is some noise associated with proximity. While there is not active whistle blowing, there may be some vibration from the railroad traffic. To combat the noise there is sound mitigating glazing provided at all windows on the view riverside which is exposed to I-84 and the railroad. Additional sound insulation between units is provided at party walls to reduce noise transference. Lights in ceiling are cool lights and not flood lights. There is Apple TV in the unit and Bose bluetooth speaker.
