Quinta das Fontainhas. DOURO VALLEY is situated in the heart of the Douro Valley. Guests can enjoy the exclusive use of the entire property and the breathtaking scenery that will make for a unique and relaxing stay. The house, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, is the result of the reconstruction of a 19th century winery and offers the essential facilities for a peaceful holiday. There are two outdoor patios, a large stone table and a barbecue. The swimming pool is set in the vineyards. The space Quinta das Fontainhas is located in the heart of the Douro - World Heritage Area and Ecological Reserve - at about 500m altitude, overlooking the Douro Valley. It consists of one hectare of vineyards that extend over 19 terraces. The presence of olive trees is also significant, many of them centenary. It is the ideal place to relax with family or friends and live a genuinely rural experience. The house - an old cellar from the late 19th century - has been completely rebuilt. The predominance of schist, the traditional stone of the region, as well as the architectural solution chosen, allow the building to merge into the landscape, respecting local rules and the environment. It has a swimming pool inserted in the middle of the vineyards from where it is possible to enjoy a breath-taking landscape, which also happens from any other point of the farm, including the house itself, whose torn windows make the sunset and dawn magical moments. The interior decoration is a mix of rusticity, classicism, comfort and modernity. The living room is large and extends in open spaceto an upper floor (fous steps above) where the kitchen and dining area are located. In the upper floor it has a suite, two more double bedrooms and a second bathroom. Guests can enjoy central heating and air conditioning throughout the house, which also has a glazed wood burning stove that works like a fireplace and is fuelled by firewood. There are two outdoor patios, a large stone table and a barbecue. There is no meal service, but some basic products are available in the cupboard. The olive oil produced with the olives of the farm can be consumed during the entire stay. Guest access All the property is accessible to guests, subject to security recommendations to be given in advance. This is due to the fact that the vineyards surround the house and the social area (entrance, patios, swimming-pool, etc.) with no walls or other barriers - as it is always the case in the Douro region.
