Located in the heart of downtown North Fork, this historic 19th century building used to be the stage coach stop. Close to Bass Lake, other lakes, incredible hiking spots, Bandit Town, as well as Yosemite National Park! Our home has a rustic, cabin-like feel, yet located next to restaurants, a coffee shop, an organic grocery w/ a fresh juice bar & more. *Please note that our home is very old & has a rustic, old home feel. We do not have a TV, so get cozy with a book or a fun conversationalist! Stage Stop is a labor of love & a maintenance nightmare! 🤣 The original building was built in 1852 with a 1920 addition and some weird 50s/70s bathroom remodeling). It’s the oldest, most historic building in the N. Fork area. The floors inside & porch decking outside are that old & may not be suitable for crawling age/early walking age kids. Some are uneven & chewed up in places. We are improving things as we can but I stress the rustic aspect for guests’ understanding! There is a vintage naugahyde couch option for an 8th person, however it is not a very soft couch! Please be aware of your children. The house has some breakables & other possible dangers, such as the back raised patio & outside steps. We currently don’t have doors for all bedrooms. Some have curtains in the doorways. We’re working on adding doors!! Again, this home is rustic. This is very appealing to a lot of folks but it’s not for everyone! :) All areas of the property. We are available by call, text or through the app. If there is an urgent need, we have a caretaker we can have come to you. Biggest thing to note: We are on the road that runs through downtown. Although it is a very small town, we do get trucks rolling through out front. So there can be some noise. Just down the street from us is the famous Buckhorn Bar & Grill! Many new bar/restaurants attempt the asthetic that just can’t be matched with the real, old school deal. Hot Shot, the coffee shop across & up the street also has a small menu with great food options. The Cabin down the steet in the other direction is a good stop if you’re craving a burger & onion rings! There’s also Pizza Factory nearby, as well as the North Fork grocery store & the family farmed owned Gnarly Carrot, which makes fresh smoothies & juices from their produce. For people fond of Bandit Town events, Yosemite or Bass Lake, we’re close & a quick, easy drive to/from any of those spots! North Fork is small & doesn’t have public transportation. The mountain roads are winding & narrow in some places. This area is popular for motorcycle rides through the mountains. Please be extra aware of motorcyclists when driving along the roads! - Ants are a nuisance in the area for about 8 months out of the year. Keeping food contained & crumbs cleared from surfaces keep them away! - Shower bathroom sink faucet handles need a somewhat firm turn to stop dripping. - We kindly ask guests to wash their own dishes. The rest our house cleaner can take care of. :) - We do not provide firewood for the wood stove or charcoal for the grill. Those items can be purchased from the North Fork grocery store down the road.
