Description
Center School B&B and Museum serves two main purposes; a country school museum on the main floor, and a comfy B&B complete with amenities in the basement level. (A variety of breakast choices, hot and cold, will always be provided.) We recently installed air conditioning. A cozy, quiet place that guests will have all to themselves - nestled in the residential area of a friendly rural community that has a lot to offer. The space Center School Museum and B&B is unique because it is an authentic country school that was districted in 1892. The front of the building showcases a photo taken of it by Solomon Butcher, in 1892. The basement was added on when we moved the building to Arnold. The first guests in the B&B were the teacher who taught in its last year 1950-51, and her husband who's given us a lot of information and artifacts to help retain the authenticity. Your stay includes a free visit to the museum. As a retired teacher (2019), I still have a lot to do in the museum above the lodging, however it does look like a country school may have looked in the late 1800s early 1900s. I've done a lot of research and have learned some interesting facts about my school and other country schools. I love showing it! Guest access Guests will have access to the entire lower floor. It has a very high ceiling, and two tall egress windows. Guests will be allowed a free visit to the country school museum on the main floor by making arrangements with the host. Other things to note (We have had as many as 7 people in the basement, using the two sofa sleepers, bed, and an air mattress, which does fill a lot of the floor space. We do have a playpen available.)
