Center School B&B and Museum serves two main purposes; a country school museum on the main floor, and a comfy B&B complete with amenities in the basement level. (A variety of breakast choices, hot and cold, will always be provided.) We recently installed air conditioning. A cozy, quiet place that guests will have all to themselves - nestled in the residential area of a friendly rural community that has a lot to offer. Center School Museum and B&B is unique because it is an authentic country school that was districted in 1892. The front of the building showcases a photo taken of it by Solomon Butcher, in 1892. The basement was added on when we moved the building to Arnold. The first guests in the B&B were the teacher who taught in its last year 1950-51, and her husband who's given us a lot of information and artifacts to help retain the authenticity. Your stay includes a free visit to the museum. As a retired teacher (2019), I still have a lot to do in the museum above the lodging, however it does look like a country school may have looked in the late 1800s early 1900s. I've done a lot of research and have learned some interesting facts about my school and other country schools. I love showing it! Guests will have access to the entire lower floor. It has a very high ceiling, and two tall egress windows. Guests will be allowed a free visit to the country school museum on the main floor by making arrangements with the host. I will be available to help throughout your stay. If I happen to be gone, I can be contacted by phone (cell), and I have several neighbors close by who have indicated that they could answer questions about my facility, etc. I also have a guest hostess that's willing to help out. The B&B is located in a residential area near two churches. One of the churches (east of the school) has been turned into a residential area where the previous owner taught youth dance classes. The present owners use it as their home. The BnB is in a quiet, peaceful residential area. The city park with lots of playground equipment and picnic tables is just 2 blocks away. Arnold Public School is also just two blocks away. Parking is just north of the B&B on a gravel drive. The main downtown area is just 4 blocks south. Downtown includes a bank (with 24hour ATM), grocery store, post office, 2 gift shops, two bars that serve great food, and Brewbakers (coffee & gift shop). Just east of main, as you head out on the main highway are two other food places, Mighty Mart, and the new Arnold Exchange. (Both have breakfast, and the exchange has a buffet type noon meal.) The Rialto Theater shows timely movies on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, plus Tuesdays in the summer monthes. Many other businesses are also downtown, including a car dealership, mechanics, hardware store, insurance offices, flower shop and much more. Arnold boasts, six churches, a lake recreation facility, and a beautiful view from Devil's Den about two miles north of town. Check out the Arnold Website for events that happen throughout the year. (We have had as many as 7 people in the basement, using the two sofa sleepers, bed, and an air mattress, which does fill a lot of the floor space. We do have a playpen available.)
